Favorite Classic Mario game?

I only liked Super Mario Bros 2 (the actual game, the Japanese one) and SMB3! The first was more as a challenge when I wanted something hard to do to spend the time while getting a good feeling of accomplishment when I finally beat the levels, whereas SMB3 was more polished and fun all around, but considerably easier! Still, despite being easier it was a good game and everything else about made up for it's lack of challenge!

I am playing the Super Mario Bros. 3 Virtual Consule and it's AWESOME!!! It's better than the first one (haven't played the second...). I have heard that a lot of people liked Super Mario World but I never played it... It sounds really fun to fly with the cape, and I don't really understand why some of the guys hate the power up that makes Mario fat...

That depends on how far classic counts :p

I'd say one of my favorite older Mario games is New Super Mario Bros. DS. It was my first Mario game and brings back a lot of memories. So many hours of my childhood were spent playing it. >.<
If that doesn't count as a classic, then I'd say Super Mario 64. It's really fun and was a new style of game in its time! I mostly played the remake for DS, but I played some of the original, too :p

Super Mario Bros 3.Super Mario Bros 3 is one of my favorite Mario games and it has some new power-ups that can still be found in today's Mario games. Like the Tanooki Leaf, The Boomerang, The Tanooki Statue (3D Land, technically 3D world too with the lucky cat statue power up) and probably some more that I can't name on the top of my head.I think Mario Bros 3 is also a game lots of people like. :)

Super Mario World was my childhood for me so I say that. On gamecube tho, sunshine and double dash were great.

Super Mario World is my favourite 2D Mario game. What I especially liked about the game was collecting the Dinosaur coins in each level and finding all the secret exits. And the world map looked so much better than the maps of most New Super Mario B ros. games.

Super Mario World is an obvious choice for me.
The style of the game just looks so nice compared to Mario 64 and the NES classics.
This game also introduced one of my favorite Mario characters which is Yoshi!
In the Forest Of Illusion I always used to get stuck when you had to find the secret.
Also we could jump on enemies without getting hurt with the spin jump!!

Hm, I'm torn between my 2 favorites. Super Mario 64 and Super Mario World. I played them both a lot, and still play Super Mario World thanks to the GB version. Hm..decisions, decisions... I think I'ma have to pick Super Mario World, but if SMW is 100, SM64 is 99.9.

My favourite Mario game is actually "Super Mario Sunshine" because it is really relaxing and the game has a tropical type of theme which air like! PS: I love the secret level theme (it is a remix of the original Mario theme)!

I love playing Super Mario Allstar time and time again. (It's just the first three Mario games and it's lost levels with a new skin.)

Hmm... My favorite is probably Super Mario Bros. 3. In my opinion, it is the culmination of everything that the NES was capable of, and it was a huge achievement in video game design for its time.
