do you think playing video games affects eyesight? I ask this because I think my 3ds was the cause of my shortsightedness. My sight was perfectly fine before I played it. I think the 3D was too much for my eyes to handle. (it was on full, as well)

Think it depends on the person. I do the same thing, and it's yet to bother me in any significant way.

could be i am not sure

I think it does but it takes a while, I remember when I first got my 3ds the 3D never really affect my eyes but now, I have to have the setting at it's lowest since anything more then that and my vision starts to get blurry.

Well, I can resume my experience as if it was a RPG:
"A wild 3DS XL appeared!"
"Foe 3DS XL used 3D Effect (full)!"
"It doesn't affect D4rkDragon..."
"D4rkDragon used games on foe 3DS XL!"
20 minutes later...
"D4rkDragon turned off 3DS XL!"
"Foe 3DS XL fainted!"

Ok, the last two actions are unnecessary, but it gives a RPG touch ...
But in any case, the 3D doesn't affect me. Maybe the fact I stare too much at screens/day made my eyes resistant to it or something...
So, yes, it only affects certain persons. Sorry to hear that you have trouble with your eyesight :bag:...

Normally it does not affect me but I noticed that whenever I played tennis, badminton or volleyball, I can't see where the net is, if it is farther away or closer. I have stopped playing my 3DS on 3D and at all for a while now and I can see where the net is again.

those games or in real life? i have not had any affects so i am not sure if it does that or not

No, I don't play tennis in real life, I play tennis on my 3DS. Lol just kidding, are you sure you have no effects? How long have you had your 3DS? I wonder if that plays a part in it. I got my 3DS in June 2012

i got mine april 1st 2013 so but i dont think that it is like d4rkdragon and it depends on the person because i use my 3ds for about 2-4 hours aday every day so if it would i think that it should have by now and at first when i got it that summer i was on for about 7 hours a day XD

Myself I got a 3DS around when it first came out, and then got an XL as soon as that came out. Only time it ever bothers me is when I'm really sleepy, and that's not really anything the 3DS is doing so much as me needing sleep.

Ever since I got my 3DS, I have noticed a decline in my eyesight. It gets better when I stay away from games, but it really isn't that good. I got glasses last year to correct nearsightedness and I will probably will have to go get stronger ones soon.

Hmm depends who is playing, all people have different eyes, some have weak eyes some have strong. I have strong so it doesn't affect me at all that I have noticed. I've heard of people who it really bugs although!

I think I also got my shortsightedness with the 3D effect crankex up to the max. Without 3D, games do not really affect eyesight. It was an old saying, and that was only true during the reign of those fat CRT screens. If you can remember to blink while gaming, your eyes will be fine.

It depends on the person. I've been playing video games for around 6 hours a day minimum (being on a computer mixed in with that) for about 7 years and I've never once experienced problems with my eyesight.

In all honesty though, I kinda want to wear glasses. I look good af in glasses.

I had to get glasses a couple years back to help with my nearsightedness, but that was before I received a 3ds. It was, however, after I had spent several years with only a GBA and DSlite as far as video games go. Maybe staring at screens smaller than index cards for hours on end affected my vision in some way, but I'm not sure if that's the case.

I definitely believe it affects eyesight. I remember as a kid playing my DS in my eye doctors office. He came in, sat down, and the first thing he told me was "Son, this is why so many of you kids need glasses." as he pointed right at my DS, only inches from my face. He said people should hold a handheld device at least a foot away.

No only when i put in 3d sometimes or some games then it started to hurt my eyes a little bit but that's when i was a kid though now just enjoy the look of 3d things just look like you could grab it out of the screen,if you ever played the lord of the rings demo you know what i'm talking about.

I guess playing too much of my 3ds sometimes makes my eye hurt and I have this tired sensation . I have shortsightedness but that was before I got my 3ds so I don't know how I got it but I would really want the 3ds XL ( New one ) because I tend to think that the screen and touch screen is sometimes to small so I would really want that . But in general yes , games do affect eyesight and you have to be very careful when you play , And it is suggested to not play much in 3d because though it may seem addicting to have it always on full , it will only do the worst for your eyes .

I better stick to playing Pokemon Shuffle :wtf:

It also depends on the lighting in the room, how far away the screen is, etc.
