how they messed up the 2ds

theses are some of the many reasons of how Nintendo messed up the Nintendo 2ds. 1 the Nintendo 2ds doesn't has flipping action which kind of defeat the point the of the 3ds and forces you to buy a case for it and kind of makes it less portable and can barely fit in your pocket.2 it only has one speaker so it you are watching something on your 3ds than you can barely hear it. 3 the design is very weird because if you already had a 3ds than you are used to having the button near the bottom of the screen so if you are playing smash4 and in a intense match you may press the power or pause button and it will cost you the match or the tournament. I would keep going but than it will become to long so I'm going to end it off

This is very untrue. The design is great for large hands, and the price is great. The 2ds is great if you want to spend a little amount of money or if you have large hands. The fact remains that not many people use the 3d feature at all. The power button is pretty deep into the system so it is practically impossible to accidentally turn it off.

I can agree with the speaker problem though, but honestly, the 2ds really is not a bad device, for little kids, it is perfect.

yeah but for other who are used to the 3ds may not like that It has no flipping action and the buttons are so high up that your finger might silp up and it take the point of the 3ds out for it to be portable

I find that untrue. My sister has rather small hands and she plays it fine. Surely enough, it is not portable, but that means the hinges will not wear out over time. It really is preference, the 2ds is meant more for little kids, though people with big hands would also like it. I find the regular 3ds really uncomfortable. The new 3ds xl, new 3ds, or 2ds is the way to go for 1st time owners. I have the regular 3ds xl, which I think is ok.

do you know they should have called it the Nintendo 3ds pro

Yeah, the new 3ds was a pretty silly name. I myself was like what the heck is a new 3ds?

yeah for example if you walk into a friend house and say HEY I GOT A NEW NINTENDO 3DS than your friend asks which one plus it is meant for people who already have a 3ds and that is the reason that it does not come with a charger

Well, personally, I think the new 3ds is like the dsi. It is an optional upgrade for people who want a new experience of a similar device.

The 2ds was made for kids who were to smart for the parental controls and ended up giving themselves permanent damage from the 3D. Nah, not really but it was made for the parents who didn't want their kids over using the 3D or using it at all. It's actually better without hinges, when I had my 2DS I felt safer that if I was to step on it, I wouldn't ruin it.

Alright, i am going to have to disagree with 90% of this... essay of yours. First, hinges are very fragile, and they are the most likily thing to break on the 3ds, so eliminating the possibility of being forced to replace your hinge and/or having to get a new 3ds because it snapped in half case you sat on it, which is good. Besides i dont care much for fitting it in my pocket, it weighs my pants down, and im skinny so i dont know how my pants stick on me, and they never fit in all the way. Second, you can still use earbuds, and/or headphones, besides it is like $50 cheaper, so what did you expect? Finally, you will not get confused as all three buttons are in close proximity to one another.

The power and start button thing also goes for the NXL but all the other reasons are untrue. Believe it or not it's best for all the DS' to have no hinges, it's less likely for the handheld to break. You also want a case for every portable console you have...

2DS features
  • Access to the same Library as the 3DS
  • No hinge separating both screens
  • A sleep/wake slider to imitate the function of closing a 3DS hinge
  • Button format similar to the 3DS
  • No 3D gameplay
That's a few things I could think of on the top of my head, but in reality the 2DS is actually a great system than what most people give it credit for. It's a cheaper option for people who want to enjoy the 3DS library without the whole "3D" function that barely anyone uses nowadays. I tend to find the 2DS to be a better option to gift someone because it's cheaper and has access to the games we both love!

2DS is basically a child proof version of the 3ds in my honest opinion. The buttons seem harder to break along with no hinges to break. Also the slider can't get stuck so there is that. While it may be a stupid concept, I have to give them props for child proofing a beloved system

no hinges less speakers, and low portability is what makes it cheap and easy for new owners/kids who break things to start with. If they included a lot of those features, excluding 3d, it probably would have costed almost as much as the 3ds, and many people would probably just buy the 3ds because they might as well get some extra features for only 5 or ten bucks more since their getting a long lasting console

Those things that you listed weren't a result of Nintendo messing up the console, but rather it was meant to be that way. With the intention of the console being more fit for smaller children, the design and differences to a regular 3DS' is very reasonable. Plus the cheaper price makes it great for those who don't have the money to get a regular 3DS :3

A friend from high school and college said that they prefer the 2DS because it feels better. I've tried it myself and I could take it or leave it. I do have some big hands though. I would say that it's all up to preference. However, I've had my 3DS for 3 or 4 years now and the hinges are just fine. I prefer that so it fits easily in my pockets. And the 3D can be annoying.

That's literally the same as saying they screwed up the Nintendo DS because people who were used to the GameBoy wouldn't know how to handle it. It wasn't meant to be the same as the 3DS, so you can't complain that it has different features.

I got the 2ds cause it was cheaper and I wanted to see about the 3ds games I've had it for 2 or 3 years and it still works

If the new 3ds xl were not out I would have bought the 2ds if my 3ds broke because it's cheaper and I never use the 3d part of the 3ds which brakes all meaning to the 3DS. But I get the point of the 2ds not being portable I really like the flip action of the 3ds. The open 2ds makes the screen dirty so I'll prefer the NEW 3DS XL

The Nintendo 2DS is extremely messed up all the way around. It might as well have been the next best thing from the DS Lite. The Nintendo 3ds and 3ds xl(what i have) is SO much better is SO many ways. For one, It now has no flip. As flamebiz pointed out, it makes it no longer as mobile, unless you are a girl, then you can put it in a purse. Now that it does not flip, if you put it in a backpack or a purse, you run the risk of something scratching your screen. You will have to buy screen protectors X3 of what you would have to if you had a 3ds. The sound kind of sucks, and its uncomfortable to hold for long periods of time. Also, if you happen to get caught in the rain with it out, you a screwed. water will immediately go behind the wide open screen and it will be ruined. So yea, 2ds sucks. And im kinda ticked off at Nintendo for having REALLY bad timing on the release of New nintendo 3ds Xl. I got my nintendo 3ds XL only a WEEK before they released the new version. I mean, how uncool is that??!!
