Gen 6 I have never found a shiny Pokemon. Ever.

Shiny Pokemons are just different colour schemes , the real thing you want is IV's , EV's which requires time and blood to achieve this perfect 6 IV's / 5 IV's. It is certainly harder to achieve this than getting a shiny Pokemon. In my opinion , I've never really encountered a shiny Pokemon before except once in Pokemon X , a shiny Gurdurr just right outside of the Pokemon League , Pokemon Centre , Victory Road.

Actually, to get perfect IVs is approximately a 1/192 chance assuming you're breeding 2 pokémon who have 5 perfect IVs, and from what I've read it's a 1/24 chance of getting a 5 IV poke when breeding two with 4 IVs. Compared to a 1/4,096 chance of seeing a shiny. So while perfect EV/IV pokémon are more time-consuming, they're certainly less random than shinies.

I don't know how I haven't encountered a shiny yet. In all the Pokemon games I've played, I'v encountered thousands of Pokemon but none of them are ever shiny. I guess it's because I usually avoid tall grass and areas like that. Still though, it sucks that I always have to trade to get shinies

My first Shiny Pokemon I found was a wild litwick when I wasn't trying to find a shiny. I couldn't catch it though because It killed itself with memento when I switched out to Quilava.

In my many years of playing Pokemon the only time I ever have come across a shiny pokemon is the day I bought Action Replay, the cheating card. I know very bad of me and all but I got bored playing Pokemon so I wanted to play my games with cheats and for a while that was very interesting but cheated games do lose their appeal quicker than games without cheats, a lesson my Nintendo DS taught me. I only managed to ever get a shiny Pokemon when using cheats on Pokemon Pearl and Diamond. Since then I have never caught a shiny pokemon.

It's right that the Action Replay was the only way to easily catch Shiny pokemon ,but after each pokemon games, finding shiny pokemons has been more easy, du to some improvements (Ex: PokeRadar).Even the chance to find shiny pokemon has been increased, but don't have blame you .Myself I have found plenty of shiny due to luck, but I haven't caught. all them ,because at that time I didn't even know that they were so specials (or I ran out of pokeballs).

The only shiny I've ever encountered aside from Red Gyarados, was a shiny Hoothoot. And I ran away from it because I was looking for a specific pokémon, and as the screen was fading I noticed it was a shiny and wanted to die.

That was unlucky for you, nevermind the is still chances to encounter them anyways.. People out there had many various of method to increase the chances of the player to encounter these rare pokemon, open youtube or many gamers website to find one of those methods..hoping you the beat of lucks

All the shiny i encountered in the game X/Y were in horde battles while i was trying to level up. I found a shiny Swablu, Spinda and Trevenant.

I have found a shiny Hawlucha in a friend safari. I was so happy, fighting is one of my favorite types!

I've found only 2 shines in the 10 years and 8 main games I've played: an Onix I encountered in Diamond and an Oddish in Emerald.

Shiny pokemon are very rare but there are methods of getting them but it does take a long time even days but you can find shinies quick if you can get a shiny charm which can only be obtained when you have collected or seen all the pokemon not including event pokemon like darkrai though.

Lol, I wouldn't worry to much about this, I've only ever found 2 shinies in my life (Shiny geodude in firered and shiny ursaring in X, MASSIVE gap), both were random. At the end of the day it's based on luck so I can't give you any tips but if you fancy chain fishing it might bag you your first shiny, good luck.

I have only got a Shiny oddish in Pokemon X.Nothing more. I say you are not a failure. Don't try getting shinies. Focus on getting good pokemon with perfect Ivs and EVs. Shinies don't effect anything more in battle.
