Gen 6 Latios or Latias (READ ORIGINAL POST FIRST)

It's been confirmed (although not officially confirmed by Nintendo) that Lati@s are having some changes....

Mega Latios has Adaptability as an ability, while Mega Latias has Multiscale as an ability.

Furthermore, Latias is now having its type changed to Dragon/Fairy.

Thoughts on this? Which Lati@s will YOU choose?

I would pick Latias, since then you would destroy easily any Dragon-Type Pokemon without any difficulty (Dragon attacks -> Fairy-Type = *0)

at the same time though, I think Latios would have no problem destroying Latias. Keep in mind that Latios still has Psychic STAB which, including the stat gains, and Adaptability, and the fact that Latias takes neutral damage from it.......could easily defeat Latias.

Latias is more of a defensive pokemon while Latios is more of an offensive pokemon

Yeah, but simply a Fairy attack on Mega-Latios or Latios, and he would take *2, so, Mega-Latias would deal *2 damage for about 50% of her attacks !

But Latios's offensive power is superior to Latias's and Adaptability only serves to boost it even more. So in a sense it's somewhat equaled by that. Latias's ability only serves to promote its walling capability.

Yeah. So it would be 50/50, but again, there's also external factors in it: IV and EVs too !

Yes, the IVs and EVs are a factor too. But when it comes to these things, assume that both have max IVs and good EVs. Latios would probably specialize in Special Attack and Speed EVs while Latias would probably specialize in Special Defense and Speed EVs

I wouldn't say "Offensive." I think the proper term is "Sweeper." But yeah, I think that's what their niches are in the metagame. Maybe it'll be different once we get to see the stat boosts though

Well Zygarde already has its place as probably in UU at the moment, which is worse than Kyurem in OU before its forms were revealed. It's not officially confirmed, but that's what a bunch of smogon users think will happen.

Well, for all we know, it may given as part of some event for Hoenn remakes. I mean, fact of the matter is that GameFreak has kept quiet on this for a while and even now there isn't an official comment regarding this

Yeah, and they ARE known for revealing really awesome surprises. For example, Wind Waker HD at E3 2013. So I wouldn't be surprised if they're going to announce Hoenn remakes soon

Yes, it'd be another starter BUT it wouldn't get Blazikenite. Anyways...let's get back on topic.

Yes, so I would easily destroy the Dark-type Pokemons, who are originally a weakness for both Latias/os, and the Dragon-Type who would annoy me in battle...

The thing is, with Dark Types, assuming they don't use Sucker Punch, with Latios in its mega form Dragon Pulse would be just as if not more powerful than Draco Meteor in its normal form....so Dark Types would have a problem...(unless they were Dark/Fairy which I don't think exists as a type combination yet?)

Yes, but Fairy types still deals *2 too to Dark types. But, no, I don't think there's any Dark/Fairy type.
