Have you tried Legend of Legacy for 3ds? I think it fits your description of getting better weapons and attacks as you progress and it's adventure based. Also you level up as you beat stronger monsters. At first it may be a little bit confusing
. Honestly, I had to go search through google to completely figure out about those but once I did, I was simply mad about the game
