I once wasted my Master Ball on some lame Pokemon too. I ended up turning my DS off and I lost a lot of progress in-game. I don't know if it was worth it since I don't think I ever ended up using the Master Ball but it did teach me one
thing- Save often.

I agree on the way you did to recover the master ball .lol, I also will so the same of course.. I also had safe often when play this pokemon game now ..In pokemon village i suddenly encountered zoroark , I glad I could find legendary one..search my master ball and gotcha get it, how dissapointed I found out that I can get this zoroark many times..find that myself is fool for not checking on serebii first.. Really sad moment losing the master ball

Little guide on how to get a near masterball catchrate: You know O-powers? Gotta love them O-powers. You have to power up your O-powers by using it. this will go quickest if you just spend it on others. So be nice, send your catchrate O-powers to others. After a while, it should power up to level two. Keep spending and eventually you'll get level 3 catch O-power. Now, say you want to catch Mewtwo here's the trick:
1) Save your game (always safe before battling a legendary!)
2) Use your level 3 catch O-power on yourself.
3) Engage in battle with Mewtwo. You may weaken it using sleep/paralysis but it's not really needed.
4) Throw an ultra ball.
5) Catch.

This method has worked without failure to me. I think the Catch O-power level 3 is slightly overpowered but hey, it's like a free masterball! I hope this little guide helped you a bit. As to how to quickly charge your O-powers I'd like to attend you on the existence of Google.
