I own a Nintendo 3DS XL and I have to say, its battery life is terrible, :vomit:. Playing with 3D disabled will get you through a couple of hours, however, playing with 3D on max will kill your battery in 3 hours or less. I have to stay home and charge the thing just to play a game. I can't go anywhere without my charger.

What do you guys think about the Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL battery life?

My 3DS battery isn't bad. I turn wi fi off, 3D off, and I keep the brightness pretty low. It works for me, and I can get upward to 5-6 hours before hitting the red.

The original 3DS's battery life is pretty good for me. Even with the brightness and volume on maximum, a fully charged battery lasts me at least three hours before the red LED starts flashing. Besides, three hours is the maximum time I would spend playing my 3DS in one go.

I don't play as much as I used to so I no longer notice how short the battery life is.
I wish Nintendo made the battery life a little bit better though.
Guess they answered it with the 3DS XL and they price I'd have to pay for one. LOL

The battery life might go down slower if the Wireless was off, and the Brightness was at 1.

Other than that, I rarely play my 3DS unless I am using Netflix.

I have to say that I don't own a Nintendo 3DS, but I have read some articles about it. The battery life is not so good, I agree. Many persons who know need to take with them their charger and this is very annoying. In my opinion, it should have a good battery life because it was created for gaming, not for other things. I would like to say that nowadays more and more devices don't have a good battery life for example, iPhone, Samsung Galaxy S Plus, Samsung Gio, iPad.

I guess we'll just have to wait until one of us or someone creates a efficient battery so we're not longer discussing short battery life. I would rather be discussing the greatness of an electronic's battery life. Lol. The struggle is real.

In my opinion I think the battery life is pretty good o_o I leave mine on standby a lot for no reason and when I come back it's always alive. If I use it a lot maybe yeah it will last just a day. I can't really tell anymore since I don't use it as much these days.

I have an external charger because the battery life just wasn't cutting it for me. Of course, I still have to charge the charger, and my 3DS, but it's really useful, altogether, my 3DS probably lasts around 18-24 hours of gameplay with the external charger. <3

Things are getting a bit off topic here, anyways from day one of buying my 3DS I also bought a Nyko battery for my 3DS and I can play mine a whole week before I need to charge it.

I've looked and it seems like no one has made a battery extender for the XL yet.

How does that work? Do you change the battery out or is it one of those battery packs that fits over the back?

And I agree, guys try to keep it on topic.

After buying the extension you remove the default 3DS battery and put in the nyko battery. It makes the back a little bulky but I found it was worth it.

How do you adjust the brightness? This could prove useful if I ever go on a road trip, since my 3DS is ordinarily bound to my room. :p

On the home page, there's a little sun icon. You use that to dim the screen. Also, you can do it through settings I believe.
