I have a decent size wad of cash from tips, holiday cards, etc that I'm too lazy to deposite, so I figured I'd blow my money on something besides video games for once! Well still video games- just not for me. I'll try to keep this short and simple:

What I want!
I have this sprite I cropped together from the Mystic Gate, aka Master Monster Portal a few years back. I've only had two people draw him for me, but they're not exactly what I'm looking for. Your job, is to draw him as best you can. Any artstyle or media is accepted, colored or non (though I prefer colored if possible), and with as much or little detail as you want.

What you want!
The prize will be a $10 eshop card to the artist of the favorite picture of my choosing. Only one entry will be allowed per person, but feel free to retract your entry for a new one if you decide to make another picture!

What you really want!
If enough people enter, I'll increase the prize to a $20 eshop card, or even 3rd, 2nd, and 1st place for $10, $20, and $35 prizes respectively. So spread the word!

What you're drawing!
This is the sprite you'll be working with. Due to resizing during the cropping process to make things fit together right, some details may be hard to interpret. It's up to you to find the best way he should look! That beside him is the original sprite he was made from.

Entry and result date!
Just because I've inserted this nameless NPC in some situations with my creatures which are rather inclined to chaos, I've decided to make the deadline for entries Friday 13th of February! (day before Valantine's day) Results will be posted my next day off that I have time to look at everything. I have no idea when that is yet of course, but I'll let you guys know when I find out. If I really have trouble deciding, (fingers crossed for that), results will be pushed back till the end of the month. Prize(s) will be pm'd to the winners once they have been decided.

These are two very different pictures of him from two very different people from deviantart that I've had done in the past. Please take them as inspiration for your own entries!

Important things to remember!

• These codes will be for USA region systems only! So please keep that in mind when entering!
• You can make as many attempts as you want! But only the one you decide on will actually count!
• The starting prize is only a $10 eshop card! So spread the word if you really want to win!
• You have until February 13th to submit your entry! And restults will be posted on my next day off after that, or at the end of the month if I have a hard time deciding.
• If anyone has any questions about the contest, or perhaps about the sprite itself, please feel free to ask.

This is a great art contest, but am I supposed to draw the character who's name is? Can I draw him in any way or art type?

i've always been bad with names so he doesn't actually have one lol. might hold a smaller contest with some pc at some point for that xP and everyone has full creative freedom (draw him as a dog for all i care) but its still up to me who wins!

So can I enter even with a European account (I'd just give the eShop credit to a friend)? I just like drawing. Also you can get European codes here; http://www.game.co.uk or at least game download codes with the same pricetag, so I am hoping a tiny bit that you might want to consider that?

Some questions about the character (I like to get to know the subject of my drawings): What game is he from? Hero or badguy? What are his specific attacks/phrases/movements? Last but not least; would you be okay with a genderbend? I am considering to use a drawing project I am working on for this guy, but the shape of the torso and face are rather feminine already and reshaping might ruin it (though I can always try). (But the pose turned out epic and the proportions are just right!)

anyone can enter, just don't want people excited for a chance to get a code then have it not work for them. and i'm really stingy about using my debit info on any site- even well trusted ones. i don't even use amazon without putting the money on a visa giftcard first. that, and i really don't like making extra accounts for something i'll barely use. also i get powerup points from getting em at gamestop as for the character, he's not really "from" anything, but the sprite i cropped to make him was from maplestory. there was a contest that i had no chance of winning cuz i dont know the first thing about drawing, much less digitally, so i cropped him together. it was fun but took a lot of time so i don't see me doing it again. for the original contest, he was supposed to sell familiar cards of any monster you already had 3 of at any time. they had a really bad familiar system back then, it's fixed now so he'd be pointless now. see that huge cube on his waste? that's meant to be a card case xD you can tell i made that bit myself lmao. but more related to my random line sketches, (kinda self-fan-ficcy) i would have him capture the chaos inclined creatures to maintain the balance of order- in familiar cards that he controls. he was meant to be a shop npc for the cards, so i never got around to actually making a weapon for him. but i always thought those 2 brackets at the side of the mystic gate could make a cool bow. so any weapon given to him should be based on the original mystic gate he was made from. and everyone has full artistic freedom. i had originally thought of a female version myself that would capture the same creatures with keeping them under chaos- but still under her control. basically him with longer hair and inverted colors. his hair is actually part of it i inverted the colors of lol. so do what you want with that. now i could include a link to my creatures if someone wanted to feature them, but some are rather detailed and since i don't know how long something like this would take to draw myself, i'd rather have contestant's time be focused on the sprite and not my creatures. that's a contest for another day.

just right click your finished picture (after uploading it anywhere) and click "copy image URL) then click the photo icon next to the emotes at the top and paste it there. or the upload a file at the bottom there if its straight from your pc. btw nice headless shadow lugia xD

I have never played maple story so: Creatures and chaos creatures? And...cards? I suppose I'll be of to google.

@PersonSP yea for that you're better off just googling maplestory bosses. for my creatures, if you really wanna go that far, my DA account is AsLinesComeTogether. conveinently organized but skill level~ (and also depth i think they'd be in their world) oh and those symbols above are the rarities of the familiar cards in maplestory. do what you want with those. or not. again, the main focus is the nameless npc.
