Now that the release of Smash U is just around the corner, do you think everyone will pick up Smash U and just forget about the 3DS version they have? (and stop playing it completely?) or will it still be played from time to time on the go? (some people still prefer it, though). What do you think?

I personally think Smash U will take over, meaning less online battles (with friends) in Smash 3DS. :bag:

I probably will hardly play the 3DS version of Smash Bros. After the Wii U one

I do think the Wii U one will get more attention but you can't really bring your Wii U Gamepad anywhere besides your living room (that and battery life) so that's Smash 3DS's niche. Let's not forget streetpass... Well it certainly won't be forgotten but then again if you are so busy I guess you will never have time to play when not at home or something then it very well could be.

True

I definitely won't forget about Super Smash Bros. for 3DS (at least not right away). I want to at least complete Classic with each character before playing the smash bros. for Wii U. Of course, the people with only a 3DS and who aren't planning on getting a Wii U are forced not to forget about it (in substitution for SSB for Wii U, that is).

I already added the funds to my eShop balance for Smash U and even though I'm going to try to play it a lot (unlike Mario Kart 8 when I got it and said something similar), I'm definitely not going to forget about its 3DS version.

See, some people here do not own a Wii U and I'd like to play smash with 'em. In addition to that, I don't feel like going to my living room to turn on my TV just to play a game every single time >.<' (not to mention charging my GamePad, heh). Heck, I didn't even feel like updating my Wii U's firmware a couple of minutes ago but I did because I'll be picking up the game digitally and to accomplish that, I need the latest firmware version. Thank goodness I can do everything with the GamePad alone,

Well, Smash 3DS would have it's own niche in portability but to be blunt, Smash 4 WiiU will definitely take over lol
In my case, I won't probably own a WiiU till next year or unless I can persuade my sisters to get the WiiU as a Christmas present but that'll probably happen lol Anyways, the 3DS version is the only latest Smash game I have lol Besides, I still have 3 classmates that play smash with me lol So I won't probably playin' smash 4 this time around lol

While I don't think it'll be totally forgotten, I think that there's going to be a large shift from the 3DS to WiiU version, if nothing else than because people can use the gamecube controller on the WiiU

I dont think it is gonna be forgotten, but I know that many People will go over to smash wiiu when it is released (including me). Smash 3ds is a great game, but I know that smash wiiu is gonna be better because the wiiu got much more Power, but once in a while I know im going to play smash on 3ds too after the release.

I feel bad for saying this but I'm really tempted to sell Smash 3ds once I get the Wii U version since my 3ds copy will just be gathering dust!

It's already registered on my club Nintendo account so I'll still get Mewtwo e_e.

No, I'll keep playing Smash 4 3DS when the Wii U version will be out, even if I'll focus a bit on it for a while (8P Smash ).
Smash 3DS has the portability, and the fun everywhere you go (if only my friends could update their games and not stay with the old 1.0.3 version...)! And even with that, you can still use your 3DS as a controller or as a storage to save the custom characters you've made on the Wii U version of the game!

I also think people will focus on Wii U, including me. I will probably end up playing it on 3DS more often though, since I'm still in high school. I have between 5-6 guys who play smash with me regularly. :D

While Super Smash Bros. for Wii U certainly has the upper hand in graphics, content, and features, the little tike (Super Smash Bros. for 3DS) over here can travel the world with you! With this said, I would play SSB.forWiiU while at home and play SSB.for3DS either when someone wants to battle me or when I'm on the go. :)

There are also more 3DS's owned than Wii U's, so Smash for 3DS will still be relevant in the months and years to come.

Only have a 3DS (and I'm sure many, many people are in this situation) though even if I wanted to forget about the 3DS version (I don't) and had the Wii U version, I couldn't. While I rarely take my 3DS outside, I feel not having to always be in the same room to play a game is kind of restrictive (a major reason why I prefer handhelds) and with my 3DS I can play it anywhere (in the house), particularly my bed which I'm most comfortable playing games on.

So even if I had both I'd probably play the 3DS version more than or as much as the Wii U version.

Well my idea is that people will still play 3ds more on the go. They will also use there 3ds to play on wii u for being use to the controls on 3ds and know how to play with them.

The 3DS version of Super Smash Bros will not die out. It's still going to remain a popular game among many people since some people might not have Wii U's, and it will still be a good game for on-the-go use. I'm actually getting the 3DS version for Christmas this year.

Probablythat is going to happen to the 3ds version of ssbb. Honestly I was one of those people who wondered why shall I get ssbb on the wii u If I already have it on my 3ds. The matter is that after seeing what ssbb was on the 3ds I can't wait to see and try ssbb on the wii u. I think ssbb on the wii u is much better than that of the 3ds version. Anyway I am still proud of having the 3ds one

No the 3ds version wont die that easy. Even though the Wii U version may have HD graphics and more stages and modes than the 3ds version, the 3ds at least has its first Smash bros game. The 3ds version does have stunning graphics for a 3ds game(in my opinion) and is also perfect for members and other people who do not own a Wii U console. In this case, 3ds Pedia members wont be left out of the fun and can also play with members who have the same version of the game. Thanks to @Marc, members can exchange friend codes and settle it in smash.

I don't even have a TV so I don't have a Wii U. So Smash U won't easily make me forget Smash 3DS :p
Other than that, I think Smash U is great to play inside with friends but you can't play outside (this was already said).

But there's something more that makes me think Smash 3DS isn't dead, it's the Smash Tour mode in the Wii U version, which is ridiculous compared to the Smash Run mode in Smash 3DS (or whatever that mode is called, I don't know, I play in French and it's called Aventure Smash). I understand why they couldn't bring the same mode on the Wii U as on the 3DS but still, what they did instead is lame in my opinion. I remember playing Smash Run during half a day with a friend, but we only played Smash Tour once then got bored of it and never launched it again.

I honestly don't think that Smash 3DS won't become a memory. I think that many players will transfer their 3DS custom characters to their Wii U versions of the game, and continue to improve them there. Plus, with the New Nintendo 3DS coming out, many people will train their amiibos on the 3DS version of Smash. I believe that the New Nintendo 3DS will support amiibos.
