I think both versions of the game will have the same playable characters. I can be wrong, btw.
No, you are right. In an interview, Masahiro Sakurai confirmed that both versions will have the same playable characters.

Anyway, Toon Link is looking good in this screenshot IMO.

Fox looks like he's ready to back him up too (or maybe it's a sneak attack) :

I agree Toon Link looks good, the textures are define quite well for the Nintendo 3ds graphics, I think. These screen shots are just making me urge for this game as soon as possible, I like it, Fox looks like he's gonna pull a sneak attack :)

For some odd reason, the characters on the Nintendo 3DS version of the game look different on the Wii U version of the game. Like for example, Toon Link, his hair is more detailed on the Nintendo 3DS version of the game than on the Wii U version of the game.

Well I read a review on this, and I suggest that Toon Link looks more define in the 3DS because of the darker shades that Nintendo wanted to corporate into the 3DS version, his hair seems more define because you can tell the different in the contrast with the yellow to the darker color, but the Wii U one seems more smooth while the 3DS one looks more edgy because of the same reason, the darker shades that Super Smash Bros. on the 3DS has. :)

In some way, it looks better on the 3DS. But he looks more natural in the Wii U version.

Yup, that's what I was trying to define in the post above, he looks better in the 3DS because of the darker shades contrasting the the lighter colors so you can see the textures of him and his costume more, where as the Wii U one don't contrast with the darker colors as much as the 3DS so you don't see him as define, but it looks cleaner and smoother.

Another Pit picture:
Pit is looking great.

I wonder if the character(s) from Pikmin will be powerful  :

I never really enjoyed playing with Olimar and his Pikmin(s) but I think they will be updated in the new Super Smash Bros. ,and will be strong (they were in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, I think) :)

I was pretty confused when I saw this image this morning. But I just recently went on Miiverse and saw what Masahiro Sakurai said about the image. Here's a verbatim of what he said:

Pic of the day. Is this a spaceship from Hocotate? No-this is a bomb SHAPED like a spaceship. After liftoff, it will drop down when you least expect it.

Well that's a very good addition to Olimar's move, I think it would be really helpful to a user's tactics when it comes to fighting more than one Super Smash character's :)

Indeed, but this tactic will only work for casual play, as in competitive play items are banned. :(

That's why I was confused! Also, Sonic looks different. He kind of looks like Classic Sonic.

Looks like but it's modern sonic, but 100% more kid friendly...

I love how it looks. (Sonic Lost World style)

3DS version has a cell-shaded type of graphic while Wii U has HD graphic. It's to adjust for the hardware differences between the two consoles.
