Was Dark Pit and Dr. Mario a good idea?

Well its not the stupidest thing smash has done (cough cough mewtwo cough) but I personally like dark pit so what if he's a clone lucina is a clone and no one is complaining ganondorf is a clone and no one is wait never mind about that second one but still if they were gonna bring back a melle character it should have been mewtwo hands down I just hope the clones get cut down for smash 5 at least Luigi is different

I know how people like to complain about clones, but I somehow think clones are more a last minute decision to fluff up a roster before shipping it out since they would take the least time to design.

I still wish they would try to give them unique moves.

To me, Wolf in Brawl was a clone done right. All his normals were different than Fox/Falco, his specials were similar but the gun had an additional hitbox, it was a slower projectile, his forward b did have some lift to it, etc. I really think Wolf should've come back and not Falco. Flaco has no business in Smash Bros anymore ._.

Without the game, I suppose I can't comment on Dark Pit nor Dr. Mario, but perhaps tweaking 2 existing characters takes a lot less time than making 1 brand new one.

I never really had a problem with clones, Toon Link was cool, didnt care for Lucas but I didnt hate him (same with Falco) and Dr. Mario is cool as a clone only because it give vareity to the game. And its cool to have another character to unlock. To be honest, id like to see Toon Zelda.

Then how would normal Zelda be able to use her down special where she sends out her suit of armor? Alfonzo? I don't see "clones" as being bad at all especially since Ganondorf got buffed enough to be a threat (if you edge guard right with that down aerial).

I loved Dr. Mario from Melee, so he is ok.
Lucina is my waifu, so I can't complain.
Dark Pit is basically Dr. Pit. He has stronger, lightning-based moves just like the Doc.

Im not sure if it was technically a bad idea juatbseems like maybe they couldve filled the roster with someone better than two almost identical clones,but hey,I'm not hating on them!

I find myself liking them more than some other characters, but one thing that annoyed me about dr. Mario is that we didn't get an alternate costume of Dr. Luigi, seeing we got koopaling alternates for Bowser jr. , and Alph alternate costume for Olimar

I like both of these characters and think they were a good idea.

The comments about over-repping are uncalled for in my opinion, three is okay but any more than that in this instalment would then be over-repping and creator bias. I really doubt they actually replaced anyone, considering how long it takes to make a semi-clone and honestly I've not seen a single good reason why they shouldn't be there.

Practically the only valid complaint about them is how similar they are to the originals, which I understand but eh, nothing can be done at this point.

I actually don't know, I just would like to see what you guys would say, I like these two characters.
So what do you guys say? Were they a good idea to be in the new Super Smash Bros game?

I thought Dr.Mario was a fine addition, but as for Dark Pit, I didn't really see why he was added. =o

Dark Pit can be easily an alternative version of Pit (looking at Robin).
Same with Dr. Mario, but I suppose different moves would fix that.

I think they're a great idea, except for DR. Mario. I wished Dr.Mario was an alternate costume instead, with its tiny insignificant differences :/ on the other hand, I heard from my friend that Dark Pit was a lot more offensive than normal Pit.


I have yet to try these out for myself though :p

I think Dark Pit was a good choice. He was a really cool character in Uprising and he has a neat moveset (even though I don't have the game). However, Dr. Mario probably wasn't as good. I mean he was missing in Brawl, but then added back. That's a little questionable for some people. Honestly, I'm still going to play with them both when I finally get the game.

I think it was good idea even though it is basically a re skin. I mean it tells people that you spent the time toi play the game a lot. Like I love this game and I play Dr. Mario instead of mario all the time. Also Dr. Mario is a classic. It is like tetris, who doesn't like them. Plus who can't like them if all it really does is improve the other character by a little bit and you get the other newer one that you have to unlock.

Theyre not reskins, they have different attributes and moves (Dark Pit has the Dark Pit staff as Final Smash, Dr. Mario has the Doc Tornado)

I definitely like them, and I certainly wouldnt mind some extra clones, like Daisy would be a cool clone.

The person I replied to, before you, was playing smash bros with me online, Sonic was pretty hard this time... (The character he was using)
