To me it was a big surprise, but i want to know if you had a big surprise, or a big disappointment..

I wouldn't call it a huge surprise or a big disappointment. If anything was a big surprise, it was arguably Mega Mewtwo Y (before we knew it was a Mega form).

It was a big disappointment to me , the mega evolutions for the pokemons didn't look like what I thought it would be , the trailer didn't appeal to me so yeah xD ....

@JunZhi Well hey, at least Mega Charizard X looks legit. In any case, the only one out of them in which I couldn't tell there was much of a difference with at first was Mega Venusaur lol

Hey , but the mega charizard X in the anime pokemon origins just looks even way more better than the mega charizard X why cant games look like that lol.

well, obviously the anime would look better. It was made to help promote the games lol Just think of it as an all-out form of advertising for Pokemon X and Y at the time

for me it was quite a big surprise because I've played pokemon since i was 4 on gameboy to ds to 3ds
and it keeps improving and improving but pokemon X Y was a major step - ridable pokemon - mega evolutions - roller-skates + tricks - and lots more so looking at pokemon fire red to pokemon X Y mega evolution is a big surprise - in future gens i hope half of all pokemon will have a mega evolution

Yeah, Nintendo/GameFreak probably decided that rather than follow the classic "let's add a lot of new undiscovered pokemon" trend they wanted to go all out in a bunch of other ways. There were only 69 new pokemon this gen I believe...

I was not surprised nor was I disappointed. I like the Mega Evolution presentation. When you click on the ability, the Pokemon cuts into this exotic scene, making the Pokemon look all powerful! It's amazing I tell you. GameFreak is keeping is real. :)

I agree, the mega activation animation looks really cool! Especially when the pokemon is like Charizard X and it goes through drastic changes in appearance...It's even better with some megas having some alternate shiny colors that the normal forms don't have

I was surprised by seeing some of my favorite Pokémon with a new style, but that's about it.

I did get pretty hyped up about it though.

It was a decent surprise but Fairy types being immune to Dragon types was a really big surprise for me and many other trainers. I hate Fairy types. xD

You'll hate my Florges :p

And yes, I was surprised when Game Freak decided to add a feature like the Mega Evolution. I was excited, but was soon disappointed when I found out that these Mega Evolutions were not permanent.

When I saw the mega evolution of Charizard X, February last year, I felt an unexplainable feeling of excitement. :p

I like Mega Evolution, but I think it's a bit overpowered.

I think for the most part, Mega Evolution was used to make the metagame more balanced by boosting the power of some of the weaker pokemon to make them better. The only exceptions to this are obviously Blaziken, Mewtwo, Garchomp, and Lati@s which are somewhat of fan favorites. I mean, look at how Kangaskhan shot up from NU to its megaform being too powerful for OU. They probably would have added more megaforms if they had time though and we can expect more in Gen 7 no doubt

hehe me too hate it... fairy types has an advantage to the dragon types way way way high... maybe a damage is acceptable but not immune:sneaky:
