I never expected it, and I think it isn't a bad idea. However, in its current state of implementation, I think it's pretty useless for in-game battling since it takes away a turn in return for increased stats or change of type/form. It's more of a gamechanger in the competitive battling scene where it adds more unpredictability and risk-taking (Should I Mega Evolve or not?). Overall, it's a nice addition that isn't too intrusive on the battle system in the game and adds some depth to it.
