What happens "inside" a pokeball?

In the anime, when trainers capture their pokemon, a red light comes and gets the pokemon. I think that the pokemon turns into a red gas. Or a pokemon just shrinks and just relaxes in the pokeball. There are many theories about what happens inside a pokeball.

Did anyone ever see that online picture of inside a pokeball? I thought it was hilarious. It was the one with the couchs and it was like a hangout with TVs and stuff. It would be pretty sweet, haha. But I wonder if there is actually any actual answer to that question. I don't recall it ever being mentioned in any part of the series, but I could be wrong. But it is an interesting topic, with some fun theories.

Lol, thre actually is a theory on youtube I believe. I believe that the pokemon are in some sort of portal. That is why when you throw the pokeball, it has a bright light. They warp out of the portal and then come out. Its like the kirby portal.

I just find it funny picturing some pokemon like Snorlax or Garados fitting inside of the Pokeball. I think that the idea that they are converted to energy would make more sense when thinking of it in that terms. But still I think that picturing a giant snorlax kicking it back on a sofa playing smash bros. on a flat screen would be a sight to see. Hahaha.

I think that in a pokeball is a house or a mansion depending on how good the pokemon is. when the trainer sends them back in they will be teleported to their house. I might also think that all the pokeballs are connected into a big city.

There was actually an episode on Pokemon where they showed Misty's Psyduck in the ball. It was just him in a ball and that's it.

From what I gather, I believe that Pokemon are shrunken down in size, and can also communicate to their trainers by way of wiggles while inside. I also believe that the inside/habitat of a Poke Ball is dependant on what type of ball it is.

For example, if it's a Net/Dive Ball, it has the habitat of something akin to what would benefit a water Pokemon (Bug also in the case of the Net Ball) better than an ordinary Poke Ball could do. This would explain why some Poke Balls have a higher catch rate for specific Pokemon. It also seems that some Pokemon would not like these artificial conditions no matter how convenient they are, which would explain why Pikachu refuses to get into his Poke Ball and Jessie's Wobbuffet is constantly leaving from and returning to his own Poke Ball.

@PersonSP

I pokémon Heart Gold they said that the pokémon were made into electrical information then stored. That would mean it's basically like teleporting (which is possible too in pokémon :p); the computer (they pokéball) scans you and saves the information, then it "deletes" your atoms and when you need to get out it reconstructs you using this information. Which is why there is a red flash when the pokémon comes out; it's pieced together again. The pokéball is just a computer that stores and reconstructs/deconstructs your pokémon. That's also why it's possible to store pokémon in pc-boxes. To me that's rather creepy; they actually go into non-existence for a while. Just think about it...

yh that is creepy, and kinda food for thought.

I'd like to think that the Pokemon are turned into some form of energy, considering you are able to store them into the PC and from there you can move them around and sort them in boxes and so goes on. I've always wondered about it, to be quite honest but I doubted that they shrink down.

Basically inside the Pokeball is another dimension it may differ on the pokeball version , dive ball is full of water and etc, the pokemon inside the ball also can listen to the outside world and such can come out eventually if he wants , the ideia of the ball is that the pokemon is trapped so that pokemon trainers could use them in battles that is basically the whole point, that is why they dont care to explain about it.

I would think that the Pokémon is turned into plasma and squeezed into the poke ball. The first time that was shown what was in a poke ball was in one of the first episodes. It was somewhat grey with a little bit of green. Circular lights. I would think that the Pokémon mutates and quite possibly even in genetic makeup to get smaller. The plasma has no weight because it doesn't have any matter so Ash can carry the poke ball around easily.

... You don't know anything about plasma at all, do you? Plasma is matter in a superheated state. If you take a gas and create a lot more heat the atoms will start to fall apart. (Which in fact makes it bigger) They won't fall apart to the point that they become loose particles, but rather just less structured heaps of matter. (So it definitely does have mass) Lightning for instance, is plasma, and so is the core of the substance in a tubelight. Plasma can be influenced by magnetism as well as electricity. ;)

I think it depends on the source we are using. In the games despite the information thing, it appears that the pokemon is growing in size as it comes out. Now I may be wrong because this is only apparent when the pokemon is coming out of the pokeball. So I think in the games the pokemon are shrunk to fit in the pokeball while in the anime with proof from poke center pokemon are basically data.

Robot Chicken answered that in one of their episodes.

As far as I can tell, a Poke Ball would probably change the interior to suit the Pokemon's needs. As for the Master Ball, I'd say they'd be living in the lap of luxury inside.

Well according to the Pokeball trophy in Smash Brothers once the Pokémon is caught it's sent to an environmental room or something.

Pokémon live in these items which, despite appearances, actually contain a wide, comfortable, Pokémon-friendly world inside them.

I'd like to imagine that the Pokemon have a nice place to be in. Like a Poke House for the Pokemon. A nice room and a comfy palace... but it doesn't really seem that way because Pikachu didn't want to be in it. I think a Pokeball is just a symbol/item of transferring a pokemon from their stored place. Which is THE BOX! DUN DUN DA DUN!!!

The Pokemon is sent out with a white flash of energy and is brought back in with a red beam. Once inside, the Pokemon is converted into data with its own data signiture. This is also why a Pokemon with no hp can't be caught. Inside the pokeball, it's just like a text document on a hard drive of a computer, and when summoned/released, the data takes a physical form, such as the Pokemon.
