I buy the game card because yes, most games I want are to big for my SD card and I can also find games for a discount like Pokemon x for $30. I also like to see my collection grow and my parents won't let me get EShop cards.

I like to go Retail, so I can have a case to show off to my friends, plus it saves on memory from downloading digital version of the game. I am not saying I never get Digital, just don't do it very much though.

I go retail because not only do I not like digital versions because I want nice boxes with the beautiful box art, but digital normally costs more with consoles/handhelds and I like having a cool collection.

i only have the 4gb memory card that came with my system... so i couldnt really put many games on it.. plus most retail games go on sale alot and you can even get them used..

I usually buy retail copies of games for the fact of playing it on different 3DS if I have to, and letting my friends (yes, its amazing I have actual friends :p) so yea, I prefer actual copies over downloads

Do you consider buying retail copies of games...

... if the game is too big for your SD card?
... if want to see your collection grow?
... so you can resell/swap the game after finishing it?
... if there are freebies inside?
... if the game is retail exclusive?
... or for some other reason?

I used to prefer retail over digital media because I was not really interested in buying a bigger sd card for my 3DS. After my first 3DS was stolen out of my car, I wound up getting another one through bartering a few things and asked Nintendo if I could recover my digital games from the first 3DS. Luckily, I had swapped out the 3DS's battery for a Nyko Power Pak and put the backplate with the serial number in a box for safekeeping. Nintendo merged my account from the previous 3DS into the new one but warned me that physical games could not be replaced. You can imagine my dismay when I realized that the physical game inside of the stolen 3DS was none other than Pokemon Y that I had bought brand new. Needless to say, after this little lesson I would rather invest in a good 32GB sd card for my 3DS and buy games digitally and pay for them only once than to keep buying cartridges that can be lost especially here in Mexico where anything can disappear in the blink of an eye.

I always consider buying retail. Not a fan of buying 3ds games online. I want my 3ds games with box and manual. For collection purposes. So that i can display it inmy room and brag with my friends.

I buy all my games retail. I just like collecting stuff, and like cover arts of games like bravely default/link between worlds.

Honestly I don't pay that much attention to it, if the game size is too big, well I still have some time to go and buy another sd card to put it inside. I know sometimes it may limit the amount of games we can get, but to me I buy retail games if they are at a really GOOD price, otherwise I don't mind any longer about purchasing them.

I try to get digital, bc sometimes I bring my 3DS to a friends house, and they're playing mario kart 7 on theirs, and i'll be like, i have that game at my house. But if i have it digital, I can have all my games with me at once. I want a game case thing for christmas.

I'll ponder about your questions...
...I won't buy games from the eShop, so having the game too big for the SD card is fine with me.
...Nah, I buy games for fun :cat:.
...Nope, I keep my games.
...Nah, but never really thought about that...
...Maybe...
...Having fun!

Feels like this question should be the other way round :p
I haven't download any games yet, I tends to buy them retail.
For collection purpose and the price aren't that different. I prefer a physical game so that I'm able to see how my collection grows XD

What you just say is truly amazing @numage but let me tell you that if you go on downloading, you get a great deal of sales on the eshop which are hardly difficult to be found in retail. Anyway I would love to have all my games in their cases but sometimes it turns kind of heavy to handle all your cartridges, and if you have them digital you don't need to trouble yourself with :where did I put that game?

@EstebanTill2 true, but I usually buy games from ebay which is around 1/3 cheaper and the games that are on discount on the eshop does not interest me :p
Downloads will be great for people who buy a lot of games though (I only buy the famous ones)

@numage you know something? I tend to do exactly the same as you do. I find them on ebay much cheaper than on the eshop but that does not always happens. For example yesterday I was checking the eshop for sales and guess what? At first hand I didn't find anything THAT interesting, but when I headed over the famous titles I realized that they actually have some discounts, for example Kirby triple deluxe which normally costs 39,99 on the eshop was 34,99, mario kart 7 which usually is 34,99, was just 29,99. Know what I mean? Sometimes it is good to check the eshop out hehhe

I knowww, just bought my Pokemon for $39.99 from eshop instead of $44.99 on websites, no delivery costs as well.
Physicals can be cheaper for older games I guess. I hate to download because I don't want to change my 4GB SD card I guess. With Pokemon on it, it was nearly full!

@numage what you said is so true! It happens with old games when trying to get them physical, you tend to find really cheap ones, but on the eshop sometimes we get the sales. i have an 8 gb sd card and I don't want to download too much just not to change it hahahhah

I mostly buy retail since games are kinda expensive here and I can at least re-sell it if I happen to not like the game I got. (Also its cheaper than buying eShop cards lol)

I like holding the game in my hands when I get it. But getting a game from the eshop doesn't give me so much satisfraction. Also, looking at the games on my shelf looks good. I only buy eshop exclusive games from the eshop
