It's an interesting controversy and I'm kinda curious how others think on this matter. Let's try to remain respectful of one another as we share opinions.

I would have to go with the Pokemon Mew, I don't know why, but something tells me that Mew is the Ancestor of all Pokemon and Arceus was created at a higher power than Mew, not sure if that made a lot of sense, but this topic is really debateable, the Pokedex entry stated that Arceus is the creator of the universe, so to be honest, I don't know, but I would go with Mew.

The Pokemon Arceus came first because it was the creator of the universe and it can transform into any Pokemon Type so I would go with the pokemon Arceus.

Mew. I say Mew did no matter what people say.

Arceus may be able to be any type, but it needs an external item (plates) to do that. Mew has the genes of all the pokemon, so not only can it become any type, but it can TRANSFORM INTO THAT POKEMON.

That would make Arceus into creationist sense and Mew the evolutionist sense. Yet it sounds weird to have the genes of all Pokemon; the reversed idea would be better. That every pokemon shares Mew's genes (in biological sense).

That kinda made sense, maybe Arceus was really the one who created the universe and Mew, but Mew had off springs so (in a biological sense) he is truly the ancestor of all Pokemon while Arceus is the God. That's the only thing I can think of that makes complete sense, @dwikrid Thanks.

I think Arceus came first and then mew came second with Arceus being the only exception.
I think maybe Mew contains the DNA to all NON legendary Pokemon, but that's just my opinion.

Yep. Then Mew would be Pokemon's LUCA (Last Universal Common Ancestor). And that's somehow cool.

I'm not sure that's necessarily true because it's the genes that allow Mew to transform into other pokemon. Last I checked, Mew is able to transform into Arceus too (and then there's the theory that Ditto is just a crushed Mew...but I digress :p)

Well, I think it was just his point on what he think it was, actually everything we speak in this thread is not necessarily true, because it is not confirmed all we have and what we are basing our answer on are theories and a few confusing facts.

well obviously this whole thing is theorymonning. That's the whole point of this thread lol It's what brings half the fun of this kind of arguing (or maybe it's just me)

But, whats the sense of arguing if there is no proper supported facts to prove your hypothesis, it seems rather pointless, I just like hearing everyone's opinion ,not stray their answer.

It's okay to have opinions, but that doesn't mean there it can't be fun to debate them. Sometimes there isn't legit facts and that's where some of the best debates can come from. If you don't want to get involved that's fine, but I'd suggest staying out of it if you don't like it.

The whole point of this thread is to discuss opinions and perhaps have some arguments on it (as long as it doesn't go into an all out flame war). Not arguing would kinda defeat the purpose....I've seen this kind of thing on Pokemon Showdown! and there were never any issues with it

Mew! Mew was there from the way way way beginning. Arceus is lame in my opinion. For legendaries, its all about Mew and Rayquaza

I think Arceus. Since he's the creator of the Universe and all, he started the Pokemon world. Mew I'm not sure about but Arceus I know. Play Pokemon Diamond!!!

Supposedly he's the creator of the universe (and yeah, I'm kinda aware of his role given his involvement with the Creation Trio), but the Platinum pokedex entry says that he came from an egg if I recall correctly...

well I see it like this :
After arceus created the pokémon universe and the other legendary biengs, mew came to be and live in that universe and through evolution ( the darwin one) mew changes how he live depanding on the area he lives on and eventually present pokémon evolved from mew and that proves why mew is extremely rare !

Ah, I see. My theory stems from the fact that Arceus hatched from an egg from a void. So that raises the question of "Who laid the egg?" Since Mew is the ancestor of all pokemon, I think it's plausible that a Mew laid this egg somehow that later hatched into Arceus.

Arceus sucks! they just made it a powerful God Poke in the D/P era. I will have to go with Mew because it used to be the First pokemon and it can transform into Arceus as well :D
