Which came first? Arceus or Mew?

Arceus sucks! they just made it a powerful God Poke in the D/P era. I will have to go with Mew because it used to be the First pokemon and it can transform into Arceus as well

Not to mention the fact that Mew doesn't need any plates to be able to change it's type. All it needs is Transform. Kinda shows how limited this "Pokegod" really is...

I like to think Arceus created the Pokemon universe and Mew created all the Pokemon. It makes more sense to me since I don't think Mew is capable of creating a whole world by itself. Without Arceus, the Pokemon have nowhere to live and without Mew, the world is barren without any life. Both are responsible for the order of the universe.

I guess Arceus was first, as he's basically the God of the Pokémon world. I think he's just been there since the beginning of time, and that he created Mew, which in turn became the biological seed which created the branching tree that is the Pokémon universe.

My theory:

Before the universe was created, Mew was born. Mew being the first Pokemon, laid an egg. The egg later hatched into Arceus (Mew's offspring), in which, he thought he was the first Pokemon to be born, since Mew left to someplace...far...far away. Mew also didn't create a world for anything to live in or create something to clear the darkness, so Arceus truly believed he was the first Pokemon. Arceus later understood his powers, and created a universe, for life to live in. Eventually, Mew came back to the spot where he laid Arceus's egg, but Arceus wasn't there. Mew looked around himself, and saw a world was created, by Arceus. He saw life on Earth, a planet created by Arceus, and decided to lay more eggs, so more of its offsprings could live on Earth. Eventually he laid hundreds, or thousands of offsprings of Pokemon, and later set them on Earth. Arceus later came back, and found Mew. He surely believed this was a Pokemon he didn't create, but he didn't care either. He later created humans, and more things to live on Earth...

So basically...
-Without Arceus, there would be no universe
-Without Mew, there would be no life (same goes for Arceus)

It is believed that Arceus existed before even the universe. Whether he had hatched from an egg is unknown. After creating Time and Space, he created two Pokemon, Dialga and Palkia to maintain (or watch over) Space and time respectively. It then created most Legendary Pokémon to manage other things. (Kyogre and Groudon to manage Sea and Land respectively, ect.) He also created Mew, which most common Pokémon today have descended from. Which is why some believe Mew to be the Ancestor of Pokémon.

Mew came first in the development of the games and it was the first element of all Life. Seriously it took 3 more Gens to make a PokeGod? Mew came first and later evolved into all the Pokemon (and perhaps humans in the Pokedex besides the Porygons, Mewtwo, and Ditto. Sure there might be an Arceus backstory or whatever but what's to say Arceus was originally a Mew or my theory Arceus was a Pokemon made in at end of space and time to prevent the major collapse of life so it made Mew to evolve into life so it can spring anew again and so Dialga/Palkia only bend space/time to tell everyone there is an Arceus ruler at the end of things. So it can be called both however chronologically it was Mew.

It's Arceus because Arceus is the God of Pokemon and it created Mew.If you people are saying that Mew gave birth to Arceus that's wrong because Arceus wouldn't be the Pokegod if mew gave birth to Arceus.Because then that would mean that Mew is the Pokegod.Arceus created mew.This is my opinion so don't judge it.

Arceus. It "shaped the universe with it's hooves" and next up it created time, space and antimatter. Without those three there wouldn't even be a universe to put pokémon in. Arceaus then created a lot of other legendaries (try Bulbapedia for that). So Arceus created Mew and then Mew became other to all the other non-legendary pokémon.

I think that Arceus actually came first because of its immense powers and being the God of Pokemon and all , I think that there is no doubt in my opinions Mew may seem like the first Pokemon , but still it more fits in for Arceus and I also think that the poll wins this as well

Arceus came first. Arceus gave birth to Mew even though people say arceus sucks, but Arceus is the Poke God not Mew. Even a 4 year old could understand why Arceus is the Poke God it's that simple.

Naw, the bible (and also the Quran I think) says Adam and Eve were the first humans, right? And that the rest came from them (I call <censored>, think about what their kids would have to do )? No says "Oh. So they are gods." Samesame Arceus the creator Mew the poke that did the rest.

The Mew species could have evolved into legendaries like Arceus. Hence why it would be discovered later rather than earlier than Mew.

I would have to say arceus. The way I see it is they say mew was the first pokemon, but that was in the Kanto region. The professors from the Kanto region didn't know about the Sinnoh region, so they didn't know about arceus. Arceus created all pokemon and mew just when to the Kanto region where we first were introduced to pokemon.

Well according the pokedex I would say Arceus since its like the God of Pokémon since it created the universe I think Mew came later
