I am new to monster hunter so I am wondering which monster hunter game should I buy? Monster hunter 3 has online on the wii u version and both the 3ds and wii u versions cost only 20 dollars now. Monster hunter 4 seems interesting but considering I am new and want to save a bit of money, which one should I buy???

MH3U doesn't have online on the 3DS, only on the WiiU. It's a great game nonetheless, but if you are looking for multiplayer on the 3DS, I suggest you get MH4U. It doesn't really matter if you are new or not, just go with the one you think you will have more fun with. Overall, MH4U has more monsters and offers much more gameplay. My suggestion is this, get MH4U first then, when can afford it, get MH3U too, as it is an incredible game, just not as expansive (fewer monsters, areas, etc.).

Get MH4U. It's easiest in the series and has a extensive story with great online multiplayer.

MH4U is not that easy when you get to the end game Guild Quests, but its more accessible. MH3U is also pretty good and I can't really chose between the two at times.

That's the only part that is harder.
I would get MH4U, most of the online players from 3U have moved on and are now playing 4U, anyways.

I would go for mh4u. It's easier and FREE DLC until next month. But you could wait for MHX (if it comes to the US) that might come next year.

MH3U has free DLC, too xD

Oh... well MH4U has the annoying Tidal Najarala

Don't wait for MHX, it doesn't have Poogie and won't be worth it.

Lol, I guess I might as well go for monster hunter 4u, and then get 3u for the wii u if I have the money. Monster hunter x seems really cool, but it is coming next year, so yeah..... I hope its on the console version also, I liked how you can transfer data from 3ds to wii u version, and it would be nice for 2 versions for that same awesome save file thingy. I officially decided to get 4u and then get 3u later if I had the money, it seems like a much better game. Thanks everyone for your help!;)

I hate to break it to you, but I HIGHLY doubt the Wii U will get MHX.

Lol, same here, I doubt it also. But its ok because I think monster hunter was meant for handhelds anyways. I just liked how you could transfer data between the 2, but I think that monster hunter plays better on handhelds because it was meant for it in the first place, its just I really liked how you could transfer save datas.

*insert Morpheus meme here*
What if I told you Monster Hunter started on consoles? (And plays better on consoles, as proven by 3U :p)

While it did start on consoles, it only became so successful thanks to the PSP ports! Those were the only reason it started getting localization in the first place!

MH1 was localized.

MH1 was localized.
But sold terribly! And so did MH2! The international sales only started looking good AFTER MHFreedom! In Japan however, it has been the best selling game series ever since the first day MH1 came out!

I'll give you that one, but I still feel like it plays better on a console.
