Why is the Nintendo NX being made?

Why do you think this console is being made? They just came out with the wii u 3 years ago
 
Because Wii U is doing poorly and of course, companies always start to develop new consoles pretty much a year or two after their new console is launched. Nintendo has to do this so that they can recover support and sales, Wii U is unlikely to even reach 15-20 million sales worldwide by the end of it's lifetime.
 
The NX is to be the next generation console of Nintendo. As theYESdragon said, the wii u is doing pretty poorly and there are very less sale of the Wii U. they are trying to create the NX so that their sales increase and they can recover support.

In my opinion, the NX is gonna do much worse than the Wii U has done in the sales of nintendo...
 
Obviously when a company make a new console it target is to get sucess and profit and other reason may as wii u didn't made the great sales and doing pretty poorly in market.

Well i am hoping nintendo new nx console will be home console.

I agree. I am truly disappointed in nintendo, they seriously ruined my trust. First off, they should release a console next gen and not mid gen, it is bound to fail. The ps4 is rocking high and is leaving nintendo and microsoft to scatter, launching the nx will make matters worse.

Yeah, I hope it is a hybrid of a handheld and a home console. But I hope it releases next gen, which is 2017 or 2018. I say 2018 because that is when the gen practically ended and nintendo can start over fresh with the ps5 and xbox 720. That way, it is easier to compete and then dominate. But every gen, nintendo losed a lot.

For instance, each console kept going low and lower in sales except for the wii, which was a casual gaming system that was a complete flop. I think nintendo should start fresh next gen, or else their sales will be even more less than the wii u.

Normally a console cycle is short. Generation 7, the gaming generation with the PS3, XB360 & Wii, is considered to be the longest console cycle as of this time. Because of this the PC Gaming market grew more powerful in terms of hardware. A normal console cycle is normally 3-5 years. The XBOX to XBOX 360 Transition was between 4 years. The GameBoy Advance to Nintendo DS Transition was between 3 years. So what Nintendo is doing is right.

Maybe to you it's unlikely but those stats may be true. Nintendo will probably sell around the ballpark of 15 million units within the next two years.

Are you an analyst? Your predict is nothing more than complete rubbish! Sure the Wii U has done terribly but under the new leadership of the new President and CEO of Nintendo International, I believe he can save, or salvage, where Nintendo is at right now and hopefully shut down some of the dumb choices they have made.

I expect probably 3-4 million more units sold tops to be honest, but only if Zelda U is released winter next year and advertised.
 
I see the NX being more of a mediator between the 3ds and Wii U (and possibly mobile, but I'm not counting on it) rather than a last resort/back-up plan. The true reason will possibly come to light later this year, if it hasn't already.
 
Because a new console on the market meaans more money in the bank! Why does any company ever develop any new products? To incorporate their latest techniques and get people to buy their stuff. It might be a little early, but development always starts a long time before the release. By the time the NX enters the markets, the Wii U has had 4-5 years, which seems like a reasonable period.

Normally like everyone said... :p there will always have to be some new console and innovation for every generation and you can't always stay stuck on the 3DS and Wii U. Sure, the 3DS/Wii U are still really good gaming devices and still have much more to go but they've been here for quite some time :p

2017 or 2018 would be ideal because of the fact that this will be a hybrid. Nintendo should not rush this console. They have so much money, that they can go decades without going bankrupt.

If it is nothing that has to do with those 2, it may even be something to expand Nintendo's business. Nintendo has potential to make so many other products, from phones, to laptops, and mini devices. If Nintendo takes this opportunity to expand, Nintendo can be more known throughout the world and probably in the future, they can gain popularity.

If not, I guess a home console/handheld is ok. This generation was actually not going to be as long as last gen, so I would see why a 5/6 year replacement for the wii u and a 6/7 year replacement for the 3ds would be. People say the same for the ps4 and xb1, that a 6 year life span is more than enough, with 2 years of support of course.

Gotta wait till E3 to find out what the nx is. I am not sure if it will be a full blown announcement or if they will just talk about it.

Just a note, we don't know for sure whether it actually is a hybrid or something else entirely. It's just a rumour. ;)

Even though it's a rumor, many people are convinced by it. I imagine lots of Nintendo fans will be disappointed and butt-hurt if it isn't the case. xD

Ikr. They can't really do anything about it for now, since they're trying to keep everything involving the NX a secret. Debunking the rumor would only narrow down the speculations. :panda:

The nx and nintendos potential.They have good series classics yes and their consoles they r late when xbox369 and ps3 came the wii came and then the wii u ps4 and xboxone nowhere to be seen until now they came to fast and with something different but not like holy sith different I believe they have the potential to change gaming like completely better then sony and Microsoft also it seems that the story content of games and games have become much more mature the audience now wants good stories so yeah thats what i think without good context

Because, The Wii u was pretty much a flop in my opinion, They could've done a lot more but they decided not to, The nx is gonna be so much better compared to the Wii u, And with the rumors or backwards compatibility with other games for 3ds and Wii u.
And the loyalty program may be for the nx and 3ds and Wii u to! Which is gonna be awesome, But are dreams are dreams for now, All we can do is dream.

It is kind of confusing, I was expecting more of a Next Gen type of thing for the NX, but instead we get it coming a mere or 4 years after the Wii U was introduced, but I guess if one thing isn't selling well then the best thing to do is make something else that will hopefully sell better.
