Day 3, Part One
I gasped and awoke... I looked around warily. I was in the middle of a forest, and I was lying on my back. My head felt like it was it had been hit with a tractor. I sat up slowly. I must have been lying here a while, because most of me was buried under a mound of leaves. I climbed to my feet and stumbled off to nowhere in particular. I just needed to keep walking. It took me about 5 minutes of walking to realize I was hopelessly lost, and I would probably die out here from starving or from thirst. Regardless, I kept walking. For two hours. After maybe two and a half hours of walking, the forest cleared up and showed an open road. There was a gas station on the other side of the road, but it looked like it was closed. I started forward, but all of my instincts screamed not to. You are so losing your mind Troy. Go into the stupid Gas Station, I thought. I walked over to it and peered into the window. Then, I heard a gun shot. I gasped as the window next to me exploded. I fell backwards, shielding my face from the glass shrapnel flying everywhere. A man was lying in the middle of the glass. He had a huge piece of glass deep in his right leg. Another man stepped out of the window, and he had a shotgun. He miraculously hadn't seen me, but sooner or later I knew he would. He pointed the shotgun at the other guy's head. Making a split second decision, I stood up and said, "HEY," real loud. In my head, I had pictured that going much better, but instead it went EXTREMELY bad. I charged the guy, and managed to kick his gun out of his hands. The bad news is that with a tiny kick, he sent the injured guy flying backwards 300 yards. I knew there was no way he could have survived that. Then, he picked me up by the throat. He held me there for a few seconds, then slammed me into the ground. I managed to roll out of the way of his foot as he stomped down, trying to crush me. The asphalt cracked under his foot. I made a very undignified squeak, then I turned and raced into the woods. He calmly picked up his gun and strolled after me, taking his time. I ran for my life, trying to get away from my unstoppable predator...
