I had an original version of this, where it involved Link's perspective.
But this Idea came about and I liked it so much, I rewrote this chapter for the character: Alonzo.
Hours before evening fell, the Lieutenant General Alonzo was visiting his great grandfather, Alphonzo. During the evening, they were chatting along the day's affairs when Alphonzo saw how tired Alonzo was. "Something wrong Alonzo?" He looked up a little concerned. "You look a bit tired."
"Long day today." Replied Alonzo, "Zudora's been drilling us in swordplay, he's quite the swordsman." Alphonzo laughed in amusement of Alonzo's description. "He's still got the skills after all this time. Like the years haven't touched him."
"I suppose so, Granpa," remarked Alonzo.
"Yes, I remember years before, when he and I were solders. We once dueled in swordplay to see who was better skilled." the old man rambled. "Yet we were too evenly matched, 'cuz in the first ten seconds we had broken our swords"
"Did you now?" Asked the now interested Alonzo.
Alphonzo laughed to himself, remembering the event exactly. "Yes, our general was very upset with us then."
"Because you started sword related training without supervision?"
"Well that indeed. But I think it was 'cuz he got in troube on account of us." Chuckled the old man. The two men continued chatting about past and present while drinking their ale. They would've went on till the next hour untill a knocking echoed on the door. Alonzo hurried to answer the door when he was met with four guards.
"What is this?" he demanded. "There better be good reason for-"
"Sir, Two of our men were attacked at the front gate." Interupted the shaken solder at the center.
"Who got through?" Asked Alonzo now worried yet curious
"We aren't sure, but whoever it is must know how to manipulate magic sir." Alonzo didn't understand the solder's meaning, but if there was a breach, he had to give orders to find this bandit. The three skittish knights awaited his orders. Alonzo instructed, "Assemble the rest of your unit, patrol the castle as best in you abilities. We'll locate General Zudora for further instruction." The solders did as Alonzo instructed and they left the room. Alonzo suited himself with his armor and took his sword with him, leaving Alphonzo with a number of questions.
The men fast approched the round room where Zudora was waiting for them. He and his men bore stern expressions by the time Alonzo arrived. "I trust you've been informed Alonzo?"
"Yes sir, there's been a breach I'm told."
"And you've assigned your unit inside the castle?" asked the general
"Yes sir."
"Good," he said proudly. "I have already sent a few men outside." Zudora's attention went to the solders by Alonzo, deciding which man to send with which in a unit. With his men organized, he continued. "We must find this person. If the king is the intruder's target, then he will face judgement from the Hyrule royal guard." Zudora explained his plan to send search parties to the east and west sections of the map, with each unit having four men. The four other units were placed to the north/east and south/east with two at the oppisite places of the castle. Zudora's unit would cover the east location while Alonzo's is sent to the west location.
The six units grabbed their torches and set them alight before departing to the now oddly darkened halls. At first, nothing of interest occured in Alonzo's unit. Then suddenly, the sound of glass breaking errupted from the distance. the four of them traveled to the location. The path they took forked into two dark halls. Alonzo investigated the left hall alone as the other three went the opposite. The torch's light could only cover two feet around Alonzo, leaving a thick veil of darkness ahead of him. Alonzo was worried of this darkness, he felt as if he were a target if this intruder was after military men as well. But Alonzo knew that he should not fail his king. His lineage had protected the Hyrule royal family for ages, and that knowledge was his motivation to press forward. Suddenly, he was grabbed and his mouth was covered, starting a fierce struggle between him and this mystery attacker, until he freed himself and drew his weapon. stopping short at his enemy. He then looked close and saw the man who grabbed him was the Blacksmith Link.
