Pokeumans: Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Andy walked down the hall with his key in his pocket and the map in his hand. The base was large, according to the map, but it seemed like this base was a cross between a school and a hotel, with dorms, cafeterias, a gym, used for Pokemon moves, no doubt, and classes. His room was quite the distance from the Base Leader's office, but he was in no hurry.

After memorizing the map, Andy looked up and tried to see what Pokemon were here. On of the interesting things he noted was that some of the Pokemon who were four-legged in the games could walk on two. Maybe they've trained themselves to stand like that? Andy didn't know exactly how they could do that, but aside from that, talking, and an occasional Pokemon studying Andy, things were pretty normal.

He looked for Pokemon as he walked to his dorm. Bulbasaur...Gable...Electrivire...Sceptile...Froakie...Sligoo...and the list went on until he found his room. Room 538. Here we are. Andy slipped in his key, and went inside.

The room inside was pretty cool to look at. It had two computers, a flat-screen television, a bunk bed, a smooth floor that Andy identified as a crystal of some kind, a closet, a bathroom, and other cool things that Andy couldn't begin to list.

"Hey! What are you doing here?"

A Dewott came out from under the bunk beds. He had some kind of goggles on, and a huge dust bunny in his hand.

"I just came to my room after Xander sent me here. Room 538, right?"

The Dewott nodded. "That's this room! I guess you're our new roommate now, huh? My name is Westley, but you can just call me West. Sorry for being jumpy."

He returned underneath the bed, and resumed his cleaning.

"Is there anything I can help you with, West?"

"Yeah. Could you please lift this bed?"

The two finished cleaning the filth that remained on the beds. They were both covered in dust, but they enjoyed working together.

After getting cleaned, the door was knocked. It was a Treeko with a mail bag on it's shoulders.

"I've got mail for Andy!" He took a package out of his bag, and put it in Andy's arms. "Here you go! Have a nice day!"

The Treeko bounded off, and Andy closed the door. When he opened the package, and found a five star notebook, a pencil, his knife, a schedule of a sort, his backpack, now empty, and a note from Xander.

Andy opened the letter.

Heya!
I know I said I'd send you your stuff tomorrow, but I figured to do it before dinner!
Inside, you'll find a schedule. Sorry, but just because you're (becoming) a Pokemon doesn't mean you don't get an education. This is your class schedules. The best part about these classes is that you'll never-and I mean never, ever-get any homework! It's more important to be trained in the field. That, and the Pokeuman Base Board kinda requires. Don't have much to complain about that, though!
Your knife should be in here, too. I've had it augmented so that now it makes enemies faint instead of die. If you're ever caught in a battle, this is your steel-type move until you can use real moves, but even then, experiment! You don't know what you'll find!
I've also forgot to mention that you have roommates. They should be able to give you good company, just as they expect from you. I hope you all can get along well!

...Roommates? West isn't the only one?
Andy thought over the note, but then folded the note back up, and put the box on the upper bunk. He could tell that wasn't taken because it was made neater than the one below.

West came back into the room as he was stretching.

"Phew! I sure am hungry! I think dinner is about to start soon. Want to head to the cafeteria?"

***

As the two got closer to the cafeteria, Andy could smell something wonderful. From the smell of the food, you could tell that the chefs here are masters, and it might just taste very well, unlike most human schools, who's food is just a little bit rubbery.

Andy could also tell it was spaghetti that was being served. Spaghetti just happened to be Andy's favorite dinner item! They got their trays and got spaghetti, along with french bread and other unique items. There was also some other foodstuffs around the area. It was like Golden Corral, but with one section changing everyday. There were some other foods for specific Pokemon, too.

So they ate, and when they were finished, returned to their room. There, they played games, did some talking, until their door knocked again. Instead of waiting for the door to be opened, the Pokemon shouted "Five Minutes to Curfew!"

They realized that they had to go to bed soon. Tomorrow was a school day, and they needed to sleep.

And so they did.
