Pokeumans: Chapter 6

Chapter 6

The weeks went by in the base. It was confirmed that Andy's ancestor was indeed a Lucario, as that was what he was changing into. The entire process was painless, almost like puberty. Sure, he found it awkward that some parts of his body were Pokemon and other human, and it all when away when he became a full Lucario, and even though he has paws, he found it still easy to hold a pencil or turn a doorknob, which are things that normally require thumbs.

Along the way, though Andy finally learned his moves. He woke up one day to realize the power of Aura Sphere, Dragon Pulse, Shadow Claw, and Blaze Kick. He experimented with those moves. He found that the Blaze kick tickled a little, but probably due to him being part steel. He also took Xander's advise and combine his knife with the other moves, though in the future he may have to either leave the knife for battles, or neglect a move in use of it, to keep things fair.

It had also occurred to Andy that he hadn't seen Troy since he dropped him off at Xander's. He wanted to know where he was, but he didn't want to seem like the clingy type, so he lived his days in wonder.

One day, though, Andy had the impression to visit the Medical center, a large room that Andy had neglected to check out. So, he, Claire, and West all went to the Medical center. When they got there, Andy could see some Pokemon on medical beds. Some where injured from battle, and some looked as if they were still changing to their Pokemon, probably freshly rescued from Pokextinction, but more banged up than Andy was when he was rescued.

When Andy looked past the beds, he saw a familiar-looking Gallade on a bed as well. It suddenly dawned on Andy that this was Troy, somehow bruised up and a little broken. Andy walked up to him.

"Hey, Troy! What happened?"

"Huh? Who are you?"

"It's me, Andy. You probably don't recognize me."

"Oh! Hi Andy! Yeah, I couldn't recognize you. I forgot that we're Pokeumans! Heh, heh, ouch."

"What happened?"

"Out rescuing."

"You rescue regularly?"

"Yeah. Didn't I tell you I was on the Pokemon Rescue Team?"

"No, I don't think you have."

"Well, we're a special team of Pokemon that go out on missions. Most of the time it involves doing stuff with Pokextinction, it can be scouting or recon."

"That's sounds cool." Andy looked at the wounds on Troy. "I guess you've had a close one?"

"Yeah. I'll get better, though." An Audino came over and started to do some checkups. Andy knew that this was probably their cue to leave for today.

"See ya, Troy. Hope you get better."

That night, during dinner, Andy was thinking about Andy. The PRT seemed like a good thing to join, but he wondered if there was anyone who was part of the team, other than Troy. He asked West. He seemed to be the brains of this group.

"Well, I can't remember exactly, but I read that in order to join the PRT, you have to have good grades in your classes, have won ten official battles, and then you have to fight...oh, I can't remember! Sorry, Andy.

"It's okay. I'll ask Xander about it after dinner."

***

"So, are you sure you want to join the PRT. It's a kinda tough call of duty, with Pokextinction getting better and smarter everyday."

"I know that, but I'd like to join so I can figure out more about Pokextinction, and if I can stop them somehow. Saving other Pokemon sounds like a good idea, too."

Xander nodded. "Okay, it seems like you know what you're doing. Let me get something for you..." He went to his desk, and pulled out another document. He gave it to Andy, and told him to study it.

"When you're ready, I want a one-page essay describing why you want to be a part of the PRT, and how you think you'll make a difference. After that, and if the essay is convincing, we'll start to keep track of your battles and grades."

Andy thanked the Aggron, and turned to leave.

"Wait! I have just one more thing to tell, but you must promise not to tell a single soul."

Andy nodded, and Xander looked around the room. Then, he came in to whisper.

"If you round up the trays after lunch, I hear the lunch lasses will give you extra dessert! But you have to make sure nobody else watches you!"

Andy liked to idea of extra dessert, so he kept a mental note of it.

Back at the room, West was watching Bones, and Claire was reading a book of some kind. It didn't matter; Andy got to his computer and loaded Word. He read through the packet.

If you're reading this, than chances are that you want to be part of the PRT. This is a special duty. the responsibility of a PRT member is...

Andy kept reading until he got to the requirements.

*You must keep good grades. Anything below a B- will have non-legible for being part of the PRT.

*You must win 10 official battles. This can range from taking part in Battle tournaments, scheduling battles, etc.

*After the above is completed, the applicant must battle a Pokemon by base leader's choice.

In order to get started on these requirements, you must write a one-page essay describing why you want to join, and the difference you can make.

Andy got all that down and started writing. He typed furiously but thoughtfully, while also pausing from time to time to listen to what kind of forensics the characters Bones and Booth were doing in the show West was watching.

After he finished, he went to turn it in, but before he reached the door, the curfew Pokemon knocked and announced the time. He'd have to do it tomorrow.

Andy next found himself in a world of Darkness. It was just an endless void left and right. Andy was starting to wonder why he was here when he suddenly heard a young, innocent voice in the darkness.

"Hello? Hello? Is someone there?"

"Yeah! I'm here!"

"Oh! Hello, there! I am Jirachi!"

Jirachi? Andy wandered why or how Jirachi was speaking to him.

"My name is Andy! How are you talking to me? Is this a dream?"

"I'm speaking to you with telepathy, silly! I wish it were a dream, but this isn't. I'm stuck in a Pokextinction base."

"Oh, no! That's not good."

"Yes! I think they're going to do horrible things to me! Please, help me!"

"I'm not really allowed outside the base, but if I join the PRT, I can lead a charge to free you!"

"You will? Thanks, but hurry!"
