Chapter 8

Andy did just as Xander had suggested. He helped the lunch ladies gather up the trays, and in return got two huge cinnamon rolls. He figured that these could restore his HP, so he decided to keep them for the elite four. He was studying when he got a knock on the door.

I guess Xander is ready, then.

Andy answered the door. Instead of finding Xander, it was the Treeko that delivered the package to Andy.

"Hello! Xander sent me to come and get you for something. I just need you to follow me, and we can get started!"

He followed the Treeko down the gym. Xander was there, but there were no other combatants.

Xander walked up to us.

"Thank you, Harrison." They both nodded, and the Treeko walked towards the other side of the gym. "I've got all six available Pokemon for you. Beat them, and you will gain access to the Elite Four."

He walked off to the sidelines. When he got to a bench, he picked up a clipboard.

"First round: Andy vs. Harrison! Please take your spots!"

Andy looked over to the Treeko name Harrison. He tossed off his bag to the side, and got in an aggressive stance.

"I may be your mailman, but I've got some moves for you!"

"Ready? Begin!"

Harrison immediately began by throwing some leaves up into the air. There leaves were dark, and had some kind of aure around it. Andy realized that this was Magical Leaf. He didn't try to dodge; like his Aura Sphere, Magical Leaf never misses. He endured the hit, and he felt very little of his energy deplete. Good thing he was a steel-type!

Andy retaliated with Blaze Kick, but that also missed. This Treeko was very quick. In fact, after Andy missed, Harrison pulled a successful Brick Break on Andy. Unlike the previous attack, it hurt a lot. Andy tried another Blaze Kick. It connected, and Harrison leapt back. He was patting himself down from the flame, but Andy could tell he got a burn. That was good; another Blaze kick should take him down.

Harrison then started to focus. The lights above the gym dimmed, and the Treeko was glowing. Andy was thinking how this would be working, but then he remembered what Xander told him. The lights were artificial suns, giving away Vitamin D and matching the brightness to the real sun.

A Solar Beam was being charged. This was Andy's chance; if he could just connect another Blaze Kick, that should do it.

Andy charged a Blaze Kick, and launched. The sunlight that was being gathered was too bright, and Andy missed. He could tell Harrison was almost done charging, and he'd be ni a world of hurt, even for a steel-type.

Andy had no other choice but to launch a Blaze Kick with his eyes closed. He would have to be very lucky for it to hit.

Wait a second! I'm a Lucario! What am I doing here?

Andy closed his eyes and concetrated. He could see Harrison's aura, and the sunlight wasn't present. He could properly aim!

But he had to hurry. Harrison had just finished charging, and was now aiming. Andy hurriedly charged a Blaze Kick. He jumped into the air just as Harrison fired the beam.

There was a huge explosion, and smoke covered the entire battlefield. It was hard to determine the victor until the dust settled. The Treeko was down, and Andy was badly hurt, like he was clinging on to the last bit of energy he could.

Andy heard some clapping.

"Whoo! Andy is the victor! Good hustle, Harrison! Andy, would you mind taking Harrison over here?"

Andy did so, and Xander pulled out two large boxes. One of them was full of Leppa Berries and Full Restores. The other had Max Revives.

"Take a Full Restore and a Leppa Berry. I
ll take care of Harry, here. Meanwhile, get started on your next battles!"

Andy finished the Magnezone. It was a tough fight, but he did it, only having suffered mild Paralysis.

He had fought Harrison, who, after being revived, grabbed his bag and left to resume his job, Claire, West, a mean Blissy, a Medicham, and just recently a Magnezone.

Xander was very happy with Andy. After giving him all the stuff necessary, he was helped up.

"Don't relax just yet, you still need to battle the Elite 4. I've packed your bag for things you might need, like Full Restores and Leppa Berries, and a little food. I've also given you a sleeping bag. You can use it if those battles should take more than a day. Remember, once you go in, you can't go out without beating them, or getting knocked out. You can pack anything else you might need."

Andy thanked Xander for his help and, after being given directions to the Elite 4's location, went to his room. He packed the cinnamon rolls, and took his pillow. He had gotten the impression to take his knife as well, so he did.

After leaving a note for West and Claire, he went out towards the location. Xander had told him to feel along the wall as he was travelling down the hall. He did so, and was surprised to find that soon after, his arm fell through one of the walls.

A fake wall! Andy had wondered why he never saw the Elite 4's hall, but he went in. Another hallway was there, and at the end, a single door.

Andy walked along the hall, and entered the room. As he closed the door, he heard it lock behind him. In front of him were four doors. Each looked nothing special, but Andy noticed that one door had no locks, and another had three. Any doors in between had one or two locks. This was it.

It's time to get jiggy with it.
