yo, you guys have shown your hate towards the Switch. I've seen it and I get it. It's a little different for everyone, and I'd like to share my experience of the past 9 days of using it with you.
First of all, I've enjoyed it. Not for every Nintendo fan at the moment, but I'm an optimistic person. Sometimes. I only have Zelda, no eShop titles at the moment. I've used my friend's Switch for eShop titles. The eShop has some good stuff in it right now, NeoGeo ports, Blaster Master Zero. Might not be enough to satisfy some people for a while, though.
The hardware has been very solid on my end. No Joycon disconnections, no freezing, blue screens, ect. Doesn't seem to be happening on a large scale. Battery life is significantly shorter than the 3DS yes, but I usually get 3+ hours out of it. It fits my lifestyle so I haven't been frantic about it. Dock didn't affect my screen, at least for 4 days. Didn't want to wait until it did, so I have a screen protector now.
UI is very accessible, but it might be too simplistic. Up with my first con, lack of software. Not much to start with, no drawing pad, or any showcase of features. Pretty disappointing.
Many of the eShop titles are available on other platforms. Why bother to buy a NeoGeo game when I can emulate it? Here's a pro, many of the eShop games out right now can be played with 2 players using 1 Joycon. Pretty nifty on the go with someone. If you have friends. Definitely a big gimmick.
This one is pretty self explanatory. Underpowered hardware. BotW doesn't show off it's potential, or at least I hope it doesn't. BotW framerate drops aren't that bad, after playing it for hours on end. You experience it like once or twice in a great while when moving your camera in the rain. It's pretty odd. Not bad but not good.
I've really enjoyed taking this thing around. Detaching the Joycons anywhere is really fun, and I seriously like it. I can plop it anywhere and waste more of my time playing games and not studying. Portability. The main focus. TV mode is cool, but this kinda sealed the deal with me. I'm like handhelds, if it wasn't obvious. Being able to take a console experience on the go is seriously great, and it puts the Wii U to shame. Just don't get picked on for being a nerd. I mean, it's probably not true, right?
Should you get the Switch?
No. Not that you could, looking at the stocks, but just don't. Especially if you think it's a piece of Zelda junk at the moment. Give it time, if Nintendo and developers decide to as well. It might of been released too early.
But
Buy it if you're a hyped loser like I am, who likes seeing what happens to the future of the industry. Who knows, you might be able to spend a hundred hours on it in the first week.
