The music should be scary
Add stuff like flickering lights and fog ONLY in appropriate moments
Also stuff should be scary
2.Jumpscares
Jumpscares CAN be scary,but NOT at the 100th time
So dont overuse it
3.Difficulty
Its not scary if everything dies after 1 hit
The enemies should be stronger than the player
But the player shouldnt be killed every 3 steps
4.the unexspected is the scariest and things usually are scarier in your imagination
5.Gross doesnt automatically mean scary
6.Try to avoid as much cliches as you can
7.be creative at the enemies Spiders and Bats are way overdone
8.The graphics dont need to be realistic,just good
9.confuse the player at times
10.dialogue and the main characters feeling should be important,BUT it can become annoying if the characters whines about everything the whole game
11.Think of a actually good story,it has to make atleast a little sense
12.If you want to use puzzles,make smart,but not too hard ones
13.if the game requires backtracking,it should have a map
