(I suppose it's not illegal since I'm not talking about hacking the Theme Shop or anything)

So, as some of you (may) know, TubeHax and IronHax were released today, and the "starter" kit available on Smealum's website contains an homebrew called 3DS HomeMenu ExtData, which enables Homebrews to access Home Menu-related stuff (Play Coins, as an example).

And with that, there's another cool thing: Custom Themes. Yes, now, you can have your own themes on your 3DS! Also, those themes can also have music (as long as the theme doesn't exceed 3.3Mb, so, it's going to be something short or in Mono/11/22Khz quality) !

So, here's the real question: Will you use one ?

Once i get a card reader usb yes I' making one.

Definitly! Customizing is the best thing to do with anything! :D

Oh, forgot that I should also post this, it might be of use for those who want to make custom themes (Also, people who generally do avis and sigs might also want to take a look at it, just in case)

https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-how-to-make-a-custom-3ds-theme.377533/
^ Also has a tutorial on how to add BGM to a theme ;)

(Sorry for the GBATemp link, it was the first link I found that properly described what to do and stuff)

I will just use the theme I bought. Since I bought it. Haha

Nah ,i dont like to custom theme most probably because i hate to costomizing on my 3ds ,i dont want to waste my eshop card money on those useless theme (but must i admit those thems look nice but i had like them if it was among free one :p).i really like my simple ninntendo 3ds xl as it is !but i keep changing my theme in every nintendo 3ds theme in every 4 to 5 days oh !may be i already set up my nintendo theme on random or whatever (laugh out loud:p)

You know that by custom themes, I meant the ones you can install via Ninjhax/Ironhax/Tubehax ?

Sorry !i made a big mistake !!i deleted it

The main reason I wanted homebrew was to make and use custom themes on my 3DS, so of course ^-^

The only thing that I'm worried about is the end of people purchasing themes from the theme shop. I mean, why purchase themes when you can design it the way you want your theme to be? ;-;

That's also why I wanted homebrew (and also, programming on 3DS yay!). Custom SFX (Game Boot+Cursor)+BGM and themes ? You can't say no. Plus, the 3DS custom themes are more customizable than the ones on the PSP (they have no BGM/SFX as far as I know).

For the theme shop, I don't worry for it, people who aren't aware of IronHax will keep buying themes (surely). And also, unless if they rip the theme shop's themes and music, they are unobtainable (Because they are packed and checked upon connection to the Nintendo Network, and any try to install them without buying them will get them deleted from your SD next time you'll connect to the Nintendo Network).

Nintendo made them too expensive anyway... I mean 2€ just for a theme seems exagerated.... (I don't know how much they charge in the rest of the world though)

Unfortunately I'm not really able to do much else with ironhax (just got it last night, yet to try Blargsnes though) so I opted to get a custom theme for it instead XD I got a Kingdom Hearts and Wind Waker theme, they both look amazing tbh ._. much better than I would've expected.

Kinda unrelated: It would be awesome if we could change the 3DS logo screen when loading a game though, kinda like the psp ._.

For now, it's normal, as the 3DS Homebrew Scene was really small (since there was so few ways to run homebrew before: either the "illegal" way, or the Cubic Ninja way. Both of those ways were too expensive to be worth it). But with IronHax and TubeHax being more "public" exploits, maybe the 3DS will get more people to make homebrews for it.

Also, I doubt you can change the 3DS's Game Boot Screen, as I think it's hardcoded into the console's firmware or the NAND (kinda like the PSP GameBoot Screen was hardcoded on one of the four flash memories).

I'm not so sure about that. On the wii you can change (or delete) the health and safety message that always appears first... so maybe they'll find a way to do something similar on the 3ds

I'll definitely use a custom them at one point or the other. It's something really cool you can do on homebrew to have your own theme. Still though I kinda like my ALBW Theme so I'll probably keep that for sometime more. Only problem I have is that making a theme seems really confusing to me ;-;

Yes, because the Wii allowed full kernel+NAND access, while it's not the case with the 3DS. Here, we only have ARM11 userland access, and no access to most of the system modules or the kernel (but we may play with the NAND through some apps though).

I've been using one for ages already, as stated in this post which already link to a previous post mentionning this :p

But I wasn't aware of those new things that just came out. If it's more convenient than what was available before, I might give it a try sometime.

I see. I'm only aware of the very basis of homebrew and everything but I'm learning all the time :)

As soon an I learn how to actually put homebrew on my 3ds the RIGHT way, I'm definitely gonna get a custom theme, but it's sooooo confusing and I don't know what to do or where to put the correct files where. (send help .-.)
