No, you don't. You did some interesting plays. You were using under used Pokemon which they don't tend to be as strong as the over used. If you would have used a more standard team, the battle would have been closer.

Yea I tend to explore some Underused Pokemon for the fun of it. And I think my team was more set for a double battle than a single battle.
