Ayros was awoken by the same message. He was sprawled out on his bed. Well...at least, it could've been his bed. Either way, though, he clambered out, wondering where he was.

"ARGH!" he yelled as his scabs tore against the bed.

And it all came back to him. The bar fight, Lara, the alcohol, this mass murder, the getting punched in the face by Lara, the killing of his ex, and...well, more Lara. Huh. He supposed either he was infatuated or he just saw Lara a lot yesterday.

He snatched the torn shirt pieces off of his face and covered up his now-bleeding side. He looked down and, yeah, sure enough, there was a bruise covering his side. He then shook his head to clear it, and used the other long piece of torn cloth to fashion a makeshift bandana. After all, the bus driver had waved a gun at him when he had tried to board the vehicle bringing him to this safehaven with his own bandana on...

Lara met Ayros outside the dorms. Before he could say anything, she held up a bottle to her lips and began drinking. She didn't speak until she finished the vodka. Sighing in a satisfied way, Lara smiled and said "Gooooooooood morning!"

"y'know, I still haven't had any of that..." Ayros said, rubbing his eyes. You know, in this light, she was sort of...beautiful, he supposed. "Actually, I bet there's still some on your lips, if I could maybe...try a little?" he asked, a smirk on his face.

Lara gave him a death stare. She still was somewhat angry about him kissing her, and ditching his old girlfriend so quickly, but given all the events that had happened beforehand, it was forgotten. "Hmm, I ain't giving you any extra I have, but maybe you'd settle for being stabbed?" She held up her now bloodied glass shard and smiled sweetly

"I swear, if you touch my face one more time, Lara..." Ayros laughed. It was funny, thinking about it now, he realized he'd never actually been in love before. But there was something special about this girl...he couldn't quite place his finger on it...

"We should...uh...go find the others," he stuttered as he saw Lara giving him a cold, hard stare.

"Gah I have no idea what happened anymore. I don't even recognize any of you! All I remember is my name and what are we even doing?!" He continues to look around in a daze trying to remember what happened to him.

Lara looked over in surprise. She hadn't expected someone else to here, and she only vaguely recognized him from the slaughter. Looking over at Ayros, she muttered "must have hit his head or something." Turning back, Lara asked the guy, "You're in Coldstream Correctional Facility, a place where future criminals come unwillingly to do jobs for the government so they don't kill us. What's your name?"

"I'd rather just be raising hell in here than them forcing this crap on us..." Vahn said as he started walking over by Ayros.

Lara immedately lost interest in the guy and walked over to Vahn. "Heeeeeeey alcohol dispenser! Gimme more beer!" Seeing Vahn's face, she added "Oh, I was referring to you Vahn. I know you have some more."

"Dammit, Lara." Vahn said. Vahn walked away from Lara and the others, then came back bringing 2 six packs of beer.

"<censored> yea!" Lara cheered. Greedily grabbing the packs, she took most of them, and gave the rest out to the others, reluctantly giving the most beat up bottle to Ayros. After pocketing her share, she realized it was almost time for the group assignments. "So....we should probably go, huh?"

"I suppose so..." Ayros said, eyeing the new guy suspiciously. He could've sworn that he knew this kid from somewhere, he just couldn't quite recall where...

Eh. Either way, he took a sip of his beer and walked off with the rest of his newly acquired buds.

"So...what now? Are we just gonna do what that old geezer told us?" Vahn said as all of them were walking.

"Do you want to stay alive?" Ayros asked. "Personally, I could go one way or another, but either way, what else are we gonna do in this place? Maybe they'll let us out to kill some people or at least SOMETHING that'll abstain my bloodthirst..."

(...anyone around, or...?)

And so, the slightly drunken crew headed to the meeting. A fancy official type came on stage, along with some armed guards. He spent a few minutes talking about contributing to the good of society, but quickly seeing how now one paid attention, he shifted topics to the group sorting. He named some people, and they came on stage, before heading off into a door leading to....something. Eventually he looked at the list in his hand, and said in a wheezy voice "Group 451 shall be comprised of...Lara, Ayros, Vahn, Zane, and Rath." The aforementioned students walked up to the stage, with various looks on there faces. Lara belched, which in turn made the official speed up the process, as he ushered them off into the door. They opened it, and walked in to find a dark room....

"Ahem," Ayros cleared his throat and took a step forward. He was instantly greeted by a staircase he didn't see coming. He picked up his back foot much too fast and barely caught himself before tumbling down.

"Guys, watch out!" he yelled from the darkness. Then, realizing he might have freaked them out, he followed his exclamation with an ashamed, "Uh...there are...um...stairs..."

Lara resisted the urge to laugh, and followed him down the stairs. They led to a room near the bottom that was completely empty, save for one strange device in the middle. It was a circular device with one button. Lara pressed it, and the machine projected a screen floating above the device. The screen read "Welcome Team#451. Your missions will be given here. The first job assigned to you will be guarding Sector A of the borders of the Expanse, previously known as the United States. Pick your gear, and head out immedately." The screen went black, and the walls of the room slide to the ground, revealing shelves of various weapons. "Ohhhh baby....." Lara whispered

"Guard duty? Really?" Ayros whined. "Can't we get something more..." he paused. He had had time to scan the weapon choices at this point, and noticed a nice-looking short bow on the wall, next to a quiver of arrows.

"Nevermind. I'm starting to like this idea..." he said under his breath, walking over to sling his newly acquired quiver over his shoulder. And while he was at it, he found a bandana and replaced his makeshift one with this new, cooler version.

"Alright. Ready to go."
