Gawd, seems Toxic and Syn aren't studying the newspapers as much as studying each other
Syn: (after a considerably long time) Oh look, they even have
The Fruitcake Times. Isn't that the newspaper whose buildings all burned down on November 14, 20XX? I remember because subscribers were going to have a free Joan Jett poster with that and it never came
(pause)
Hey look, there
is the November 14 paper here. It never arrived for us. Maybe there's Joan Jett in there...
(rustles open paper)
Hope's Peak Academy - Despair's Students Bloodbath retrospective review
BGM: (that scary music that plays when the students find something scary)
Monokuma: Oh, yeah! If you guys
knew stuff like this happened, you wouldn't want to come to this lovely school now wouldja? So I burned down those idiots' office and since the guv'ment didn't want you to think the world was such an awful, awful place, your generation never knew the incidents that happened there and that let me have free reign to bring you all here! Upupupu....
This academy has been
closed to the public for years and years but you guys didn't know. You assumed that all the geniuses quietly attended this place, didntcha? THOUGHT WRONG, SONNY JIM. But I knew everything that happened to the last batch of Hope's Students because
I was one of them! And since dearly departed Miss Enoshima's ideas were pretty great when I thought back on them, even if I didn't enjoy myself at the time, I decided to make a tradition out of it! HUNGER GAMES GOT NOTHING ON THIS. You kids are the first bunch to enter here and you're not broadcast publicly (so Toxic and Syn and Black and Riko can do whatever they want), but some big-money execs are being shown the camera feeds as we speak so that they can sponsor the Despair Bloodbath Tournaments when they start officially!
Upupu, such a stroke of genius, I'm so proud that I let my tongue run away with me. But it doesn't matter. Unless you are able to name the Puppetmaster by tonight - for
I murdered that bookworm b~ - you'll all be executed.
Syn: And if we do manage to find you out, then what?
Monokuma: Upupu, a hopeful one, arentcha still? If you manage to name me, well, I'll follow the rules. All rooms in the school are open for you to explore and see if you find any clues. But the clock's a tickin, and you won't find out in a million years! Upupu, see you later, crocodile!
And Monokuma went away.
