Super smash brothers has a long history of characters, some good, some bad. but their have been some absolutely absurd characters that should not have been in any smash brothers games. first on my list is pichu. The only smash brothers character that can hurt them selves from attacking, plus add small and able to take lots of damage. this should of been Nintendo's very last resort for a character. Next is R.O.B. dont get me wrong I love his role in Brawls Sub-space emissary. but I really don't think he deserved to be in smash brothers. especially for a failed Nintendo idea. He only has two games that are compatible with him, so hes shouldent have been included really. Next is snake. now some people may like snake, but him in brawl was just taking up space for other greater characters. I mean the inclusion for sonic was really great, but snake wasn't as great. and his role in sub space emissary just didn't really work with me. The last is animal crossing new leaf villager.I know acnl may be a popular game, such as any ac games. but villager just shouldent have been. He just dosent fit in with any other characters from smash. and I just find him as a joke character. If thiers any I missed, or any you want to speak about let me hear it.

My opinions:

Pichu: I Agree

R.O.B.: Well he was the joke character for brawl and he did help sell the NES

Snake: I would say he was a cool character but he didn't really fit in with the rest of the cast and please explain why he wasn't a great character all you did was say you didn't like him or his part in the SSE maybe expand a bit on it explain why you didn't like these things

Villager: I don't understand why you say he shouldn't have been in I mean the animal crossing franchise has been represented in smash before. I'm confused to why you say he doesn't fit in if anyone doesn't fit in it is snake. The Villager definitely fits in we have had young boys in smash before (Ness/Lucas) and we have also had characters using everyday items as weapons (Peach golf club, frying pan, tennis racket Ness: Baseball bat and yo-yo, Wii fit Trainer: soccerball and hula hoops).

You make decent points... except I don't really agree with your stance on ROB and Villager.

ROB is part of Nintendo's history. He saved Nintendo during the huge Video Game Crash, by making the NES seem like an electronic toy rather than a gaming console. Since then, he made various cameos in many games ranging from Mario Kart DS, Warioware, Pikmin 2, Kirby's Dream Land 3, and even F-Zero GX. I feel that ROB definitely deserves his roster slot.

Villager also fits in perfectly with the Smash Bros cast. He is a popular character from a fan-favorite Nintendo franchise. Who said characters couldn't use everyday items in their moveset? If Villager doesn't fit in based on how he looks. then why don't we give Ness and Toon Link the boot?

actually rob didnt save the nes, it was super mario brothers. R.O.B only had two games compatible with it. and its because it didnt sell good. also the nes itself looked like a toy, thats why after the first nes, they made a second one that was a top loader, to try and make it look like more of a new electronic instead of a toy, but it was bent a little and over time would break the games, so then they released the final nes, which looked sorta like the japans nes, the famicon.

and R.O.B, well the i can see why hes in smash, but i dont believe he should take up charecter slots that could be used for other charecters, but he is better then any old clone charecter. and villager, well the way i see it is that nintendo is a game for nintendo all stars to battle it out. such says ssb64. not that acnl villager isnt an all star. ill admit he has great games, but he dosent seem like a fighter. i mean in none of his game does he ever fight. and its not based on apperences. if it was id be complaining about kirby and all the other charecters, but acnl villager isnt a fighter at all, infact his games even provoke nonvilence. every other charecter has fighting, or bad guysin thier games. mario, kirby, samus, link, peach, yoshi, ness, donkykong, captain falcon, which even though he has no fighting in his game, he is a bounty hunter and has tons of villans

Duck hunt doesn't really fight wii fit trainer doesn't really fight game and watch doesn't really fight

well duck hunt does have enemys, the ducks. and mr game and watch has tons of games with enemys, he even has the classic donky kong game on his games. and wii fit trainer, ok you got me thier

Pichu was new when Melee was out. They needed a new Pokemon rep and Pichu was the easiest Johto character to do. No picking on Pichu as he was only a one time deal. Stop the hatin'.

R.O.B. is for the retro and toy fans who either never heard of him or just did because of Mario Kart DS. In Smash 3DS there was a load of MK7 trophies and stage so judging the success of the MK series they just had to have R.O.B., plus you'd never expect him so he had to be in. He did get Nintendo out of a slump and it sold the NES.

What? Why Snake? People actually liked his "James Bond" like music as well has his minor humor. And besides he's more real to life as well as a good fighter. Next you'll want Zero Suit Samus out of the game for the same reason excluding the Plasma Whip attached to her weapon.

Villager deserved to get a spot. Especially if Olimar gets a spot since they were both released in the same era and Animal Crossing has more games than the Pikmin series perhaps almost barely. And besides it's more loved than the Pikmin franchise.

well 1. at the time thier was like over 250 diffrent pokemon. what about machamp, machoke, hitmonlee, hitmonchan. trust me thier were many better charecters then pichu. R.O.B, like i said i dont particulary hate R.O.B, i did like his role in subspace. it was sad, watching all his R.O.B brothers get destroyed before his own eyes. thats why i liked him. but i believe as a fighter, thier could of been better charecters involved. and snake just didnt fit in. zero suit samus fit in just fine. escpecially in sub space, with the pikachu scene. but in the storymode all snake did was pop up for no reason, and fought for no reason. i can see brawl was supposed to be a little more realistick, you can tell just by looking t the graphics. but really thier was just no point in adding him

and atleast olimar has enemys in his games, plus his charecter was extremly unique. villager dosent even have enemys in his games so really thier should of been better charecters to take his spot. dont get me wrong, they gave him some nice moves, which does him justice as a charecter. but being a charecter that finds ways around villance, he just dosent seem to fit in with smash brothers.

So a character who lives in a village and has every day village problems can't fit but a yoga trainer can?

well to be honest, wii fit trainer would fit in with smash more then villager. if the villager could fight or atleaet have an enemy, then id exept it. but atleast wii fit trainer has some sweet yoga moves. atleast she can look likea fighter

Those Pokemon you listed are all Generation 1 Pokemon. Not Johto Pokemon. And Konami wanted at least one rep since the ending of development of Melee and that Ninja Gaiden character wouldn't fit because Sheik is already an ninja character so maybe one of the Belmont's from Castlevania could fit(?). It's just not as original as the concept of Metal Gear I guess and Smash has the same appeal Metal Gear would (and it's been around since the NES era too like Mega Man made by Capcom.

Well I guess Villager was Snake's replacement because their moves are similar and have dominance by staying in a certain position on one side of the battlefield. That air dominance is basically the same other than Snake being slower and stronger on the ground.

Lol "sweet yoga moves". I think Wii Fit Trainer would less likely be in since she has "no enemies" either but doing yoga does fit the adult audience it's aimed towards even if they aren't hardcore Smash players. She's/he's also a neat concept by adding sweetspots to their moves even if they aren't fully real with their sun projectile and their perfect yoga moves.

well wiifit, like i said i didnt think she fit. but she fits in more then villager could. villager being snakes replacement, i could understand that. and ok what about hitmontop. hed been perfect, spinning arround the field. hed be alot hetter then a pokemon that hurts itself

How does wii fit trainer fit in more than villager let me guess It is because you didn't know who he was when he was announced or you have never played animal crossing?

  • #16
oh ive played ac games. and 1 thing every one keeps ignoring, is that his games support nonviolence. and problems he has he dosent fight, or anything like that. and wiifit trainer exercises. she does tons of fitness poses, even some used in tiquando. a form of martial arts. so wiifit trainer is more of a fighter then villager is.

Duck Hunt isn't a fighter he is just a dog and don't say his enemy is the duck because the dog is just the one who collects the ducks for the hunter that's it

  • #18
ya, but the ducks arent his enemys, thier yours. you shoot them, he collects them. can you kill or fight anyone in ac games. any at all

  • #19
exactly my point u said they were his enemies earlier so why does duck hunt fit and villager not

  • #20
they are. the dog and hunter are partners. you shoot duck. he grabs them. so they are bothof your enemys. and he fits more, because once again. animal crossing villager dosent fight. his games have no enemys what so ever. no fighting at all. so he dosent fit in, cause his game is the only game in smash brothers with no violence or fighting, or fighting refrences at all
