Now I see this thread, it reminds me of how I haven't heard of Call of Duty in a long, long time... yet it used to be such a fad when I was a kid. I'd hear about it all the time from the other kids at school.

Yes, it's failing. If it hasn't already. Nowadays, there are plenty of other fad games, or FPSes if that's what got CoD popular. Plenty of competitive games to get your dopamine rush. As of now, Fortnite seems to be the big one, and it's been that way for years.

Will Fortnite die, too? Eventually. Everything dies eventually. But, like CoD, maybe it will stick around. But I know one thing. No matter how high something flies, it's still going to fall, as CoD has and Fortnite one day will. It's going to happen. It's inevitable. Yet, it's oddly beautiful, how everything comes to an end eventfully. It's a kind of beauty which teaches us one of life's most important lesson - nothing lasts forever, so we must enjoy it while we can.

Perhaps. Or maybe it's beautiful for some other reason. Either way, I can remember back when CoD was popular, back when I was buying sweets at the newsagents and one of the gaming magazines had CoD on the front cover. That newsagents is long gone, like CoD. Nothing can last forever and it is only in its ending that we find its beauty.
