What route is that?

What route is that?
The route shown in the image embedded in the guide, right? That's route 22. This is where you'll find Magikarp, Gyarados, etc.

Ooh. Currently doing chain fishing, thanks to the guide!

Would this area be Good?

It's considered great by many chainers but didn't work for me at all. Good luck to you though.

I believe a similar method works with a patch of grass?

That's a different method known as the PokeRadar Chaining. It works in a patch of grass but it's quite difficult and the chain breaks quite easily which is annoying.

Radar Chaining is easier in areas with a low variety of species, but I agree, using the Pokémon Radar is quite tedious.

Chain-fishing, huh? That'll be a chore if you use one of these:

this method never worked for me although it worked for many persons,i only use the horde method,it worked for me two times, but shiny magikarp [you must have]

Question! It says it's easier to fish in an area closed off on the sides, yeah? Does that mean the lake/pond or whatever you're fishing in has to be like a square, or just the one spot you cast your line in?

Just the one spot where you try to fish. It should be closed from 3 sides. That's the most efficient way to chain fish a shiny Pokemon.

That explains a lot.
Thanks!
I've been doing it wrong.

No problem, it takes some time to get used to. Once you get used to it, you'll be catching a lot of shinies in no time.

Hey, nice guide! It's quite comprehensive. But I wonder;I tried chainfishing but I did not run but just battle them and it did not break my chain, I got a shiny Luvdisk at the after 32 encounters. Was I extremely lucky? Are you sure you have to run?

Also, my fishing spot was not enclosed at three sides...o_O

Fainting the Pokemon might not break the chain but I find running easier and much safer. Having an enclosed spot actually increases your chances of finding a Shiny sooner but any other spot might work as well.

Okay, thanks.

Does it matter if the pokemon with suction cups already is shiny because it's just not working for me. And i've tried more than 30 min on 1 single chain!!

I personally like using route 8

It is actually very easy to use this method as I realised yesterday. It didnt even take me 20 min to catch two shinies; a shiny poliwhirl and dragalge. We just need to fish in a corner using a pokemon with suction cups ability at the front of the party. I got a shiny at the eighth pokemon of my chain which was the fastest shiny i got using the chain fishing method.
