Which do you prefer? a Octillery with suction cups or a inkay with suction cups or a gulpin with sticky hold?
I think chaining takes about 20 minutes. Dont forget to carry those quick balls, dive balls, and ultra balls! I had a experience when I lost 5 SHINIES CUZ OF NO Pokeballs. So good luck! :headphone::D

So to shorten it up a bit you need something to gurentee you get a bite every time. Then you start fishing. After so long you will get a shiny Pokemon. Warning do NOT move it messes up the chain:-(

I tends to have a problem reeling in/pressing A too slow. Any ways to prevent this? (Am I the only one who have this problem?).
Got up to around 20 chains then break it most of the time :(

Make sure that you plug in your head phones and crank the volume up. This way every time it "dings" you can press the A button quickly. Eventually it will become a muscle memory and you'll be doing it without any effort at all.

That's what I did in ACNL and RF4 :D
I already tried it on pokemon and seems to work quite well. Got 2 shinies in around 40 mins.

The dexnav thing though, is much harder to find a shiny.

Whoa reading all these makes me want to try chain fishing and possibly the PokéRadar one!

Try the chain fishing first, it is very easy and a higher chance of getting a shiny. PokeRadar chaining is a bit complex and very low success rate for newbies.

I will, thanks again I will be happy with any shiny that pops up.

I know that in Pokemon X and Y that it is a exceptional route for catching shinies, but do you know a route in Pokemon Omega Ruby (Not Alpha Sapphire because some Pokemon are different) that is reknown for good shiny catching or you guys have experienced? I use route 112 south (Next to fiery path) because rare Pokemon are there and I just happened to go there to catch some Numel for Magma Armor or Flame Body for breeding when I realized it doesn't have that ability...

Does this method even work in ORAS? I am not sure about that because I don't own either of these games.

Get a fishing rod. There are three fishing rods in the game; the Old Rod, the Good Rod, and the Super Rod.
  • You get the Old Rod by talking to a fisherman in the aquarium in Ambrette Town.
  • You get the Good Rod by talking to a fisherman in Coumarine City.
  • You get the Super Rod by talking to a fisherman in a house on Route 16.

The higher your chain is, the better your chances are of encountering a shiny Pokémon. Eventually, you should encounter one. Catch it, and enjoy your new shiny!

I've been pretty lucky finding shinies in this game, its amazing. I found a shiny zigzagoon and kecleon in a matter of hours apart, and I wasn't even trying to catch them. It was pure luck which was amazing. But in terms of chain fishing ive never got into that because of patience. ahaha

This method is really really simple all you have to do is log into your 3DS and then open pokemon XY or ORAS and then find any route or town with an ocean or lake in it, then when you have succesfully found one which holds a pokemon you would like to have go in front of it and basically just keep fishing... I may be missing something but Im pretty sure it`s as straight forward as that

I tried chain fishing for the first time recently and had the craziest luck
I turned my 2ds on sleep mode to go smoke a cigarette, and my friend informed me that this broke chains on x/y
I got mad and turned my game back on, and caught a shiny the next try!!
I love how they made it easier to acquire shinies in the new games

but does anyone know what all pokemon can be caught on the rods?
