How would we treat aliens?

Seriously though if you haven't seen it watch arrival. That movie so good whether you're interested in this topic or not.

Possibly the situation could be something in-between. Note, that was the reality with the coming of Europeans to the New World. Note, there was a massive increase in technology - but also massive abuse, and one sided disease epidemics.

What do you mean first of all? The coming of Europeans to the new world did not go that well at all for the Native Americans. They basically took the Native Americans land and forced them out west, which also happened all throughout American History. The flaw with the native americans was that they were too optimistic about humanity. As history clearly shows, the conquerers mostly do not care about the people they conquer. They take their land and their resources and do not care about the people at all. This situation actually reflects back to the question at hand though. The big superpowers in this world are only comfortable if they are the ones in charge. It was what they are used to. They will fight if they have too to defend their position. So when aliens land on earth these superpowers will meet the aliens with hostility expecting them to bow down to the human race and work for them. Instead if the aliens are smart they will fight back. Using their advanced weaponry (they have to have advanced tech. to reach us anyway, so that also probably means advanced weapons) they will crush the human race. Killing all the selfish people who still believe that they are the rulers of the universe, while the smarter ones will try to make peace with the aliens so that the human race does not completely get wiped out. The result of that peace will be determined by the aliens reaction. Also even there is some peace it probably won't last that long as there are bound to be some self centered idiot humans in future generations who will want to fight back against the aliens, therefore dragging all the humans into war, where they shall be wiped out, unless for another temporary peace by the smarter humans. The cycle shall then continue.

Now you may think that is a very cynical view of humanity, but I tell you history is on my side with this one.

Well I would say that we should prison them because we all know that aliens having been trying to invade the earth since day 1 and we have seen a lot of movies where aliens try to invade planet earth because they don't like humans and for some reason what if they are planning to takeover the earth and will prison human beings who knows since they are smarter than us. They will want to be the next humans and might prison us to enslave this earth and make humans slaves and once they enslave this earth they will want to take over other planets so we should just kill them.

Yeah but you're assuming the aliens are evil. What if they're not? Then we're the stupid ones by conquering them. And you won't win a war with aliens. They have to have advanced tech. to reach us so they will probably have advanced weaponary as well
