Fates Is it worth it to spend the time to level up?

Leveling up always seemed to help me when it came to playing the game but then again that's pretty much been my play style since I started with rpgs and other games. I guess I do it to get the feel of the game plus to just enjoy the game a lot more and just trying to get more out of the games I play.
