Author? He writes books?!I love them both there both equally my favorite Mario characters of all time. There both equally awesome and they have their own pros. Mario is a hero and is Player 1. Luigi is a cowardly(but awesome) GhostBuster and a great author.
? I have no idea what you're talking about so yes you do.BANG BANG
I don't need to say anything else
I can translate.? I have no idea what you're talking about so yes you do.BANG BANG

Okay? I guess I missed something?I can translate.
Luigi because he encourages violent behavior for some reason.
I was just kidding all I know is Luigi but I cannot make sense why.Okay? I guess I missed something?
Oh. Woops. XD Luigi is just more likeable so I don't need a reason for that.I was just kidding all I know is Luigi but I cannot make sense why.
*BE WARNED! BIG WALL OF TEXT COMING YOUR WAY!*
Luigi all the way. Here are the reasons why: while it's not exactly something Nintendo picked up on until later, at least up until Super Mario World Luigi wouldn't even be given the credit of beating a Koopaling or saving the Princess from Bowser, it instead going over to Mario. A simple oversight of course seeing as you'd normally play as Mario in the game but still makes you cringe when you're player 2 and you see that.
Of course, later games in the franchise pick up on this and lampshade the fact that Luigi has always lived in his brother's shadow, like the Mario & Luigi franchise. Luigi's character and personality however is very endearing if his feats are anything to go by. He's rescued Mario from a haunted mansion even when he's deathly afraid of ghosts, basically putting his fear aside for his brother.
At the time of writing this, Mario & Luigi Dream Team Bros. sticks out most in my mind how Luigi feels for Mario; without spoiling too much, you enter a part of his mind that is basically the raw emotion, feelings and thought. And what do you see amongst it all? Messages of his thoughts:
"Hey! Nobody messes with my bro!" "Big Bro, I can help!" "My bro is the best!" "Wait for me, Big brooooo!" "Big Bro, it's your choice. Luigi will follow you." amongst some other messages of a similar caliber.
It's clear that Luigi thinks very highly of his brother. Later on when they are in danger, the first thoughts that comes to Luigi's mind are "Gotta help my Big bro!" This is only part of why Luigi is my favourite, but a major one. Another side of him is that he is awkward, silly and weird in such a way that it's really funny, like poking something or someone in a half bored state while they continue talking to Mario, or as is usual tripping up during each beginning of M&L title, be it falling out of a blimp or running halfway to where Mario is while still dressing and tripping over. In fact he's so oddball that apparently he has some weird thoughts even by a star spirit's standards.
Finally, in some games he ultimately serves as a pivotal point to the plot or even a living Macguffin. This isn't all to say that Mario doesn't care since there's evidence of him truly caring about Luigi albeit not showing it much, but all the qualities Luigi has makes him sympathetic, hilarious and the underdog to boot.
tl;dr Luigi's more fleshed out of a character than Mario.
I agree with you in everything, the character development of Luigi is much better than Mario's
This is something a little bit off topic, but I hate Mario's personality in Sm4sh, is like Nintendo forced him to be "bada**" an "cool", while Luigi is still the same guy as ever
Thanks!

Agreed. I also like his reaction when he gets hurt. Mario just says: "Ooh." Luigi gets super melodramatic with his "Awawawawawaw!". Luigi is definitely the funnier of the two.*BE WARNED! BIG WALL OF TEXT COMING YOUR WAY!*
