That japan smb2 cover, the game name was Doki Doki Panic. It was the same game as smb2 but with some diferences, the story is a kid who is captured by wart and taken into a storybook with the family following in pursuit, while the smb2 storu is mario found a door just like his dream. thats why the level select screen on doki doki panic is like a storybook. Nintendo just remade Doki Doki panic into a mario game and released it as mario bros 2 since the original sequel, smb2 the lost levels was deemed to hard for american audiences.

Lost Levels too hard!?! xD I had more trouble fighting Wart than going through an entire Lost Levels stage. It doesn't relate to Mario's name Jumpman but it's trivia.

If he was named Jumpman, the series would've been canned after the first few games and Nintendo might not even have been a video game company today. Everything down to the name that you use contributes to how well you can market yourself to others. Mario is a unique name which will be remembered by the millions who've played his video games.
