Still annoyed...
Towns Folk
I already asked @Marc but having multiple advices doesn't hurt!

So I got a Wii U yesterday. I was wondering if you had tips about what to get, may it be games or accessories? I don't mind Wii recommendations and Apps as well. e-shop games are fine too! Tips are welcomed too :bag:

I already have:
Splatoon
Nintendoland
Wind Waker HD
Bayonetta (1 and 2)
Controller Pro
Wii Remote Plus
Nunchuck
And stuff from the deluxe set (cradle and supports)

What I really don't want:
Smash

What I plan to get:
MK8
New Super Mario Bros U

What you recommended me that I'll check:
New Super Mario 3D World
Captain Toad

I'm pretty sure at least one person is going to recommend Smash despite it being on your don't wants list, haha. (Don't believe me? Just watch :p)

You're already on the right track, I'd say! Splatoon, Mario Kart 8, and Wind Waker HD are among the many great games for Wii U! A cool, light Wii U title I'd recommend is Super Mario 3D World (if light includes 3D platformers :p). It gives you a good ol' guzzle of fun whether playing solo or with others! The process of 100%'ing the game can be fun as well, depending on who you are. xD

Also, have you checked out the Wii U eShop yet? If so, which titles did you find interesting off-the-bat?

I was thinking about going for New Super Mario Bros U instead of World! I've been told Super Mario Bros Land is like World while New Super Mario Bros is like U, and I liked more New SBROS than Land. I prefer the old good sidescroller mario games!

I didn't check the e-shop yet! I opened it and got confused, it's quite different from the 3Ds eh?

Captain Toad, Donkey Kong and Bayonetta are other games that interest me. Hyrule Warriors maybe but I'm curious to see how it will come out on 3DS first (because they include DLC).

On the Wii, I was looking a lot at the Zelda games and also the Super Paper Mario games. Maybe Rune Factory and Animal Crossing too?

In the future, Woolly World is quite interesting, and I'm curious about the AC spin off since I don't plan on getting Mario Party!

The two games are definitely similar, but World is a big improvement upon Land, I think. New Super Mario Bros. U is great as well! The sense of one big world was pretty cool. I personally enjoyed playing through the game. New Super Luigi Bros. U is also a great twist to the standard platforming formula. I certainly can't wait to customize my own levels in the modern style.

Yeah, it is confusing at first. Just remember that the 3DS eShop scrolls horizontal, while the Wii U scrolls vertical, kind of like a sleek application.

I was also going to recommend CT: Treasure Tracker, but I didn't know if you liked puzzle games or not. I haven't tried any of the other games, but I did watch an lp of Boyonetta 2; it's definitely worth it! My brother wants me to get Hyrule Warriors, so it must be good. I'm not too fond of the 3DS version yet. :panda:

The only 'Zelda' game I have for my Wii is something called Link's Crossbow Training, which came with a Wii Zapper lol.
City Folk is definitely a must-get game! Although, a big feature that is now inaccessible is the multiplayer. :/
I've never gotten around to the Rune Factory series, but the games are interesting from what game play I've seen.

Woolly World will certainly have a throwback feel alluding to Yoshi's Story, I just know it! Nonetheless, it'll be good. I find the Amiibo Festival somewhat interesting, but I dunno if it's worth getting other than for the Amiibo.

Is World more 3D while U is more sidescroller, like I think? If so, U is really more for me! I didn't really look at the Luigi version though?

I do like Puzzle games yes ^^ Hyrule Warrior I'll borrow it from the office and will try it to see. And I'll decide later if I get it on 3DS or on Wii U, if I end up liking it ^^

Yeah, not really a Zelda game haha, well, a spin off! I'll have to get a wiimote and nunchuk if I want to play Wii games though, I'll have to check on that.

What about Amiibo tap? It's free, is it nice?

Yep, that's pretty much the gist of the two Mario games. New Super Luigi Bros. U is much more fast paced than NSMB.U.

Free indeed. Nice? I suppose it has its perks. Amiibo tap lets you try out 10 differing scenes from an array of retro games. Each amiibo you tap on the game pad unlocks a new retro game for you to try out. It's basically an app that encourages you to buy more amiibo, how I see it. :|

Ok if you have any friends or brothers/sisters you are really going to want to get another wii u pro and i'm not too familiar with the deluxe set but you want to get at least 2 wiimote plus controllers even if it's a accessory like the nunchuck to play nintendo land and like I said you want a couple more wii U pro controllers if you have a lot of friends that come over or brothers/sisters to play splatoon. Now for the games Mario Party 10 is a fun game and much better than 9 and if you don't like mario party then new super mario bros. U and/or super Mario 3D world is much better than mario bros. U I think and burials warriors is a great game too and if you like windbreaker than it would be a good idea to get that also if you like sonic go for sonic lost world if you like classic sonic gAmes or if you like adventure go for sonic boom and sonic boom I did enjoy quite a bit. I can explain this more if you want I kinda did it too messy.

You should get Hyrule Warriors if you get a chance! It's a really fun game which lets you play as a lot of LoZ characters. The game is a lot like a war game (Hyrule v. Ganon) where you have to take over forts(keeps in this game), escort troops, and more. I only played it once and I had a lot of fun with it.

If you want a fun VC game, jump on the Earthbound train! Earthbound is a fun RPG game where you have to play as Ness and his friends to stop Gigyas from destroying the world. I'm still playing through the game at the moment (if you ever noticed my blogs) and I'm having a great time with it. If you want you can play Earthbound Beginnings but it's relatively shorter, Earthbound is the longest in its series, even longer than Mother 3!

Accessories, try getting some amiibos, they work on Mario Kart 8, allowing you to use special mii outfits based on the amiibo you connect. Also amiibo tap is really great as well, allowing you to play demos of the game that the amiibo you connect is from.

That's about all I can help with, hope it was insightful!

I don't have siblings to play with and I neve rreally have people at home either =/ Is it still worth it to get a Wiimote or not so much? I'll get one at one point since I want to Wii games but...?

Edit:

I borrowed MK 8 and Hyrule Warriors from the office!

In terms of Amiibo, I have Ink Boy and Girl already, not sure I'll get more soonish but I'll see!

If you want to play Wii Games then you kind of have to use the Wii Remote. The Wii games do not allow the use of Gamepad and Pro controller.
EDIT: Unless you buy them VC, but that too only for certain games

Of course not everyone has siblings and might not have any friends at all or has some or a lot but they don't come over often. And I'd play a game with ya online on the Wii U I am getting splatoon soon but have played it but right now I have Mario Kart 8, Super smash bros. Wii U and that's about it I really play all the time.

And also if you don't have a wiimote that works and you have wii games you need a wiimote to play them you can't play wii games with My Wii U controllers.

Yes, I know about the wiimote, it's why I said I was getting one at one point but wanted to be sure that I didn't need one before getting a Wii game ^^

Thanks for your inputs guys!

Some of my favorites I'd recommend for any Wii U user include but are not limited to:
  • New Super Mario Bros. U - definitely a must-have for anyone starting out
  • New Super Mario 3D World - Another great starter title, lots of fun on co-op.
  • Hyrule Warriors, if you're into a horde hack-n'-slash type of thing.
  • NES Remix 1/2 if you're a virtual consoler.
  • Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker if you're a puzzle-lover, or just like Toad. (notice me Senpai :bag:)
And that's just the tip of the pixilated iceberg.

I,m really tempted by NSMBU, a bit less by World though! I borrowed Hyrule Warriors already but didn't try it yet. I spent yesterday on Splatoon and MK8 :bag:

NES remix I almost got on 3DS, is it better on Wii U? Captain Toad seems interesting as well!

Woah you already have so many games! xD I have had my Wii U for a month and still only have Wind Waker HD.
I don't really have anything to recommend. Maybe Yoshis Woolly World. I have never played it but from what I have heard and seen it is a really fun cute platformer. You should definitely get it if you enjoyed Kirbys Epic Yarn for Wii. For VC pretty much everything for N64 is awesome.

Splatoon and Nintendo Land came with the console, Bayonetta 1 and 2 were in the same package (buy the 2. get the 1 as well) :p

Yoshi isn't out here yet, and I missed Epic Yarn, it's one of the games I plan on trying once I start looking at Wii games ^^

You bought all those game & the Wii U in one day? Wow, you like spending money on video games. That's a ALOT OF money.

1. I got the Wii U with Splatoon and Nintendo Land as a gift for my birthday.
2. I bought the rest by myself.
3. I have a job and I work A LOT. I don't smoke, I don't drink, I don't have kids.
4. Where I spend my money shouldn't be your concern, and it's quite off-topic.

Thanks...

Can I suggest eShop games?

If so, from my limited experience of it on Steam, Child of Light is an excellent RPG albeit supposedly somewhat short, it features a timeline-focused battle system which is neater than it sounds. There's also Fire Emblem (7) on the GBA VC, it's imo one of the best Fire Emblem games and if you haven't played one and want to it's easily the best place to start, I believe.
