Pokémon Colosseum 3DSPedia Nuzlocke Challenge!

I just recently beat Pokémon XD (yet again) and now it's time to try Colosseum. This time I want to give it a twist by doing a Nuzlocke challenge. As some of you may know already this game can be particularly challenging, even in a normal playthrough (specially because of the steep level curve) so this will surely prove to be a big obstacle. Here are the rules I'll follow:

1. I must snag the first 2 Pokémon I encounter in an area. Now, before I continue with the other rules. In Colosseum there's a very small amount of areas where Pokémon can be snagged, not even reaching the double digits, whereas in a regular game there are several (usually 20+) locations where Pokémon can be caught. To make things easier I'll list all the areas here:
  • Phenac City (you can only catch 2 Pokémon here, both at the beginning of the game)
  • Pyrite Town
  • Agate Village/Relic Cave/Relic Stone
  • The Under/The Under Subway
  • Miror B's Hideout
  • Pyrite Cave
  • Shadow PKMN Lab
  • Snagem Hideout
  • Realgam Colosseum/Realgam Tower
In case you're wondering why I'm not including Mt. Battle, that'll be addressed in another rule.

2. I can only keep one of the Eeveelution starters.
3. All Pokémon must be named after 3DSPedia users (otherwise it wouldn't be a 3DSPedia Nuzlocke :p).
4. Legendary Pokémon CANNOT be snagged. (Entei, Raikou and Suicune) Entei is the only Shadow Pokémon in Mt. Battle.
5. Gift Pokémon cannot be used.
6. If a Pokémon faints, it's considered dead and cannot be used in battle anymore. It must be boxed permanently or released.
7. All of my Pokémon must stay at or below the next boss's level cap.

I'll start the challenge later this week since I'll have a long weekend :D Please let me know what you think about the first rule's modification and if I should use it or stick to the original.

Upcoming Pokémon:
Espeon (if chosen)
Umbreon (if chosen)
Makuhita
Bayleef (if chosen)
Quilava (if chosen)
Croconaw (if chosen)

Hitmontop is the only Pokemon in Agate :<
I vote for Mantine, Croconaw, Skiploom, Espeon, Dunsparce, Meditite, Murkrow, Forretress, Heracross, and Skarmory.

Ok! The Nuzlocke will start later today :) First, I need some more votes on Espeon/Umbreon and Croconaw/Bayleef/Quilava because there are Pokémon tied for the most votes (1 lol).
All Pokémon are still available to be nicknamed!

The nuzlocke has started!

Since Espeon and Umbreon were still tied when I started playing I did a coin flip and Espeon eneded up being my starter.
I've successfully caught Makuhita (it's a forced catch so...) and now I have to choose which Cipher Peon to battle: green, red or blue. They each have a Shadow Pokémon: Bayleef, Quilava and Croconaw, respectively. I want you to choose who I will catch for me! :) It only takes one (or two, if someone votes for Bayleef) vote so I can continue :) If nobody votes then... I guess I'll have to choose.

Every Pokémon is still available to be nicknamed :)

Oh , that's very nice ! :p I think that I will join in :p even though I'm not really familiar with the game Pokemon Colosseum >.>
I think that you should Quilava , if you do , then you can name it after Eridan :p I just hope that I won't die , mostly like in all the nuzlockes that I join >.>

@Eridan I actually continued one day and lost, Espeon died to a crit and Shadow Pokémon don't level up until they're purified, which is after the first boss, Miror B., it made continuing impossible. It doesn't matter though! Since it was very early in the game I've decided to restart the Nuzlocke, just that this time I'll be more cautious, it's the first time I ever tried to do one with this game so I didn't know what to expect. Hyper Mode can really screw me over because it makes it so Pokémon can't be healed with items and they refuse to use other moves that aren't Shadow Rush, which adds a lot to the challenge.

I'll restart on Friday! (I'm quite busy this week).

Pokémon I plan to have:
Espeon - unnamed
Makuhita (obligatory catch) - unnamed
Quilava - @Eridan
Flaafy - unnamed
Skiploom - unnamed
Yanma - unnamed
Remoraid (forced 2nd Shadow Pokémon in Miror B.'s Hideout/Pyrite BLDG) - unnamed

You do know what Call is used for right? Confusion, maybe sleep, Hyper Mode. You know, the not very important statuses you could beat the game with.
And will the Master Ball cloning glitch be allowed?

Yes I know, but Pokémon don't move on the turn they go into Hyper Mode plus the turn I have to waste calling them. Sometimes I'd rather stay in Hyper Mode since Shadow Rush has a really high chance (if not guaranteed) to crit. I won't be using the Master Ball glitch, it's not available unil late game anyways.

This is starting tomorrow! :)

@Charizard1710 all Pokémon are going to be named after 3DSPedia members. If you want one to be named after you just choose it! (as long as it isn't claimed by somebody already) ;)

Name me after a random Pokemon ;) or Yanma if you get it. I don't know much Pokemon Colosseum so I want to read through this Nuzlocke :p I don't get what you mean by "snagging" :/ Are Pokeballs or healing items in this game? Thanks.

@Chopper There aren't wild Pokémon in Pokémon Colossuem, instead I have to "snag" (steal) Shadow Pokémon from opposing Trainers, if you want to learn more about Shadow Pokémon you can read this article :) Note that Pokémon XD's Shadow Pokémon act in a different way so for this Nuzlocke that info is useless, you can read the whole thing if you still want to though. Everything else works just as any other Pokémon game, with the exception of the battles, which are all Double Battles instead of Singles.

Pokémon I plan to have:
Espeon - unnamed
Makuhita (obligatory catch) - unnamed
Quilava - @Eridan
Flaafy - unnamed
Skiploom - unnamed
Yanma (forced 1st Shadow Pokémon in Miror B.'s Hideout/Pyrite BLDG) - @Chopper
Remoraid (forced 2nd Shadow Pokémon in Miror B.'s Hideout/Pyrite BLDG) - unnamed

Name Flaaffy Zaphyr :p
You are going to evolve it right?

@Charizard1710 I can't D: One of the rules is to name the Pokémon after 3DSPedia members. I can name it after you if you want. And yes, I'm going to evolve it :)

The Nuzlocke started! Something came up yessterday so I couldn't play :dead:

I started and went through the "tutorial" in Phenac City, successfully snagged Makuhita (obviously) and Quilava! :cat: I made it to Pyrite Town and snagged Flaaffy which gave a little trouble spreading paralysis, I ad to use about 5 Great Balls on it. Skiploom was much easier, it stayed in on the first attempt!

Curren Team:
Espeon Lv. 27
Makuhita Lv. 30 (@Artisan)
Quilava Lv. 30 (@Eridan)
Flaaffy Lv. 30
Skiploom Lv. 30

Purple = Shadow Pokémon

I'll grind Espeon up to Lv.32 and lower the Shadow Pokémon's Heart Gauge before heading into Miror B.'s Hideout/Pyrite BLDG so my last experience doesn't repeat  I'm not really sure if I should pass on catching Remoraid, the reason I'm thinking about it is because it's at Lv. 20 (instead of Lv.30-33 like other Shadow Pokémon), but it IS the only Shadow Water-type Pokémon I can catch until the post-game.

Level cap: Lv. 35

Upcoming Shadow Pokémon:
Yanma - @Chopper (Miror B.'s Hideout/Pyrite BLDG)
Remoraid - unnamed (Miror B.'s Hideout/Pyrite BLDG)
Meditite - unnamed (Pyrite Cave)
Dunsparce - unnamed (Pyrite Cave)
Swablu - unnamed (Pyrite Cave)
Sudowoodo - unnamed (Pyrite Cave)

I'm thinking about catching Swablu and Meditite, I think they'll be worth it in the long run :)

Name me after Makuhita

Today I did an extra ling session to make up for starting late :p

I started off by finishing my grinding, I decided to keep Espeon at Lv. 31 instead of 32 because I didn't want him to pass the level cap. I also lowered every Shadow Pokémon's Heart Gauge so I could use their regular moves and not enter in Hyper Mode as often.

I explored around Pyrite to activate the windmill gear theft, got it back from the now under-construction Realgam Colosseum and returned it to the Chief. Duking asked me to take on the Colosseum challenge to discover how and where was Miror B. distributing the Shadow Pokémon. Everything went smoothly.

After winning the challenge a Cipher Peon escorted me to the Pyrite BLDG to give me a Shadow Pokémon, however his partner noticed I was jut an intruder and a battle started. Found Yanma (@Chopper) and caught it!

I traveled through the Pyrite BLDG and reached the rooftop, battling several people working for Miror B.. I entered a room that was located on top and battled Reath and Ferma, I caught Reath's Shadow Remoraid because at least I should have some backup Pokémon. Sadly I had to knock Ferma's Shadow Mantine out, it gave me some trouble! I had to use a couple Super Potions along with paralysis to avoid any deaths. Thankfully, Espeon and Flaaffy got the job done!
Duking arrested Reath and Ferma and requested me to rescue his Plusle from Miror B., giving me acess to the Pyrite Cave, there was a Miror B. goon guarding the entrance, he had a Shadow Quilfish but because the battle was outside the cave it was still considered to be Pyrite Town. Beat him easily and I started traveling through the cave. It was pestered with Miror B. peons, but most of them were easy to deal with. I battled the trainer that had the Shadow Meditite and sucessfully snagged it with my first Great Ball thanks to a crit from Yanma that left it at red HP + Sleep Powder from Skiploom. The battled continued and... something terrible happened. Yanma was team up on by a Bagon and a Numel, they were continuously using Ember on him, I was close to KO'ing the Numel when Yanma entered Hyper Mode! It was then whe he died :( R.I.P. Yanma (@Chopper), you stayed for a short while in the team but you were extremely useful, it is sad to see you die because of a Hyper Mode.

I went back to deposit Yanma in the PC and picked up my newly capture Meditite, Pure Power made him an unstoppable fighting machine, OHKO'ing almost everything with Shadow Rush. I continued through Pyrite Cave and turns out that Dunsparce was a forced encounter, I had no other alternative but to catch it.

I found a healer and PC, healed and saved my progress because this could mean but one thing: Miror B. was close. I made my way through the remaining of the cave, and, oh? What's this? Could it be... Miror B. himself? Yes! He is! The battle started almost immediately so... let the music play!

It was time for some Ludicolo action! I played as carefully as possible because I know how deadly he can be, the easiest way was to team up on one Ludicolo at once. I took out the first two Ludicolo easily, however I had to switch Espeon out, he was seeded by his 3rd (and highest leveled) Ludicolo, while the 4th was setting up the rain again, in his place I sent in Skiploom. I also switched Makuhita (@Artisan) out for Flaaffy because I wanted to get rid of the Swift Swim boosts with some paralysis. I Sent Makuhita back in in place of Skiploom because I know that his 4th (and lowest leveled) Ludicolo carries Ice Beam. Flaaffy and Makuhita did an amazing job at dealing the the Ludicolo but not without a few close calls...
Ont3mHr.jpg

I beat the Lv. 28 Ludicolo and Miror B. sent out his Shadow Sudowoodo! (Lv.35). I switched to Meditite to deal some heavy damage on it combined with Makuhita's Cross Chop... unfortunately Meditite was taken out by Ludicolo's Dive, but Makuhita was able to beat Sudowoodo! I sent in Espeon so I could finish of the last Ludicolo. Miror B. was beaten! R.I.P. Meditite, I'm sorry I let you get KO'd so early! :(

Hello, just letting you know that I didn't forget about this ^^; I'm having a bit of a hectic week and won't be able to play until Friday. Even then I have to study for a Physics and Chemistry tests next week so I don't think I'll be able to make much progress. After that I'll just have to take care of minor things which means lots and lots of progress :)
