My favorite is, of course, Charmander. I always liked Fire Types, and when it get's to Charmander and it's evolutions, it gets OP. Charizard can beat Articuno and Mewtwo, and can almost beat an Entei. (In the third movie, he successed using few moves against a Entei mad by an Unown or something like that... The Entei they made is stronger than a normal one.)

I also really like Charizard's design, his design is my favorite even if it's a shiny.

My favourite starter pokemon of all time would have to be squirtle. In general, my favourite starter typing is water, and out of all of them, I think squirtle looks the most tough. It was the starter I chose when I played through Pokemon Fire Red. What made me love squirtle even more is his final evolution, Blastoise. It is such a tank both in design and in competitive. One highlight I remember when I played Pokemon Fire Red was when I was battling Gray, the champion after the elite four, Blastoise just blew his Charizard back with a hydro pump, and it was so powerful. When I played 6th gen, I was so happy when I got to see mega blastoise. When I mega evolved it for the first time, not only was I so hyped, but since I had no clue what it looked like, it was so powerful in mega form. Great starter overall.

@Colress I got your back here, blazeken is the one of the coolest looking fire types in his series, and while I love charizard too torchic was my very first pokemon in my first game, emerald, that unfortunately had a save battery problem of sorts so I could never beat it. Blazeken is the first fire fighting type, had an exclusive move for one or two generations, and he is considered an uber pokemon in the metagame due to his hidden ability speed boost along with protect and flare blitz.

I've loved Oshawott since i first played X/Y. I don't know how good Oshawott is competitively, but I always have one on my team.

Squirtle. Best Pokemon ever. Level 100 squirrel is better then Blastoise and a new pair of 130 dollar OVO sweatpants. It's like chocolate plus Splatoon combined. Without Squirtle the world wouldn't know what awesome means. But now we know. It means Squirtle.

Oshawott!!!! It's so adorable. I loved raising some in B and W2. In my walkthrough of Omega Ruby I used a Torchic and Oshawott. It's razor shell animation is so cool. Also it has an awesome 50% chance of lowering your opponent's derense. I love Oshawott so much that I even made a life size paper mache of one by hand. Later on it gets to learn a strong move, Revenge. And then in the anime, Ash's oshawott would go "Osha osha!" There's just so many things that make this pokemon my#1 fav starter. I don't care if it's not even the strongest Pok in competitive battle.

Heck, im hands down on froakie. Hes freaking awesome, and has always pulled me through hard battle, whether in the Super Smash Bros battlefield as greninja or as himself in X and Y. His final form, Greninja is very reliable, and powerful. Hes an awesome pokemon, and his Shiny egg ability is amazing. I currently have a shiny greninja.

Their egg move is REALLY useful. It is an ability that lets them constantly change type during a battle.
It is controlled by the move type you use. If you use a dragon type move, greninja will automatically change to a dragon type. It is very useful. Hes all around awesome.
