Wii U and 3DS Region Lock.

Yes, they do it to control the sales of games. But again, irrelevant excuse to say that they simply don't want us to play US/EU (<- Choose depending on what region your 3DS is) and Japanese games on our 3DS.
What's even more stupid is that Microsoft and Sony control the sales, but won't go this far.
So they're basically missing out on potential sales on purpose. :panda:

Basically, yes. They're punching themselves deep in the face, and that's a shame, because I-can't-tell-how-many great games for the 3DS were released in Japan for example.

And if the language might be a problem for Nintendo, in the sense where the user won't understand Japanese, or if they fear this much the use of "Translation Patches", they should know that many websites lists the dialogues of Japanese games in a readable language.

So again, Nintendo isn't taking advantage of their consoles, and limit their customers with the Region-Lock.
