There are some great players who mained captain falcon on for glory for the wiiu version they did their combis very well and did great grab combos which captain falcon is known for. and they used his spike good!

Not true. My friend and I play Falcon (when we are not playing Kirby and JigglyPuff), and we never use the Down B (except sometimes to land without taking an attack when someone is waiting for you on the ground). Especially because of that ending lag you mentionned. But yeah, the people who spam that, just punish them when they can't move, that will teach them how to play.
