My explanation of Anime and Chibi Art Styles! ^~^ )/

Hi! I'm here to tell you about art styles!
There are many art styles out there, which consist of adorable art to creepy spiders c: . Every artist has their own art style, but each of which can be categorized, and I constantly see people putting art into the wrong categories, such as calling chibi art anime art, I've never seen an anime look like chibi >~<.

Let's get straight to the point.

Chibi art. Chibi art is meant to exaggerate body parts and sizes to make the character look more cute. This can be an unproportional size for the head that the body would not normally be able to hold up. Basically, big head, tiny body. It is sometimes adorable, but not always. Some artists decide to take it a step further and make them creepy, but still cute. Creepy cute. Cutepy :p .

Anime art, if you look at any anime, what you're seeing is the anime style, I know many members here are familiar with this style, so I hope I do not need to explain it. But just in case, anime style is basically the cartoon version of real people, but with adorable eyes and are made to be appealing to the eye.

I hope this clears up some confusion for people, it really bothers me when people call my art "anime" art

Y'know, Chibi art and Anime art come hand-in-hand. This is because some anime, be it Saturday morning or high-comedy prime-time, tend to use "Deforms" to exaggerate the expressions of the characters. Good examples are Blaz-blue, Full-Metal Alchemist, Tri-gun, Pokemon, Ninja Soul, and other shows/games/manga.

There is a distinction, I'm not arguing that. But when you said "I've never seen an anime look like chibi" I wonder how much anime you've seen: how could you miss the near regular presentation of chibi art in most shows?
I agree with you 100% o/
To clarify something in the last paragraph, anime doesn't have to have large expressive eyes, it's just a common trend in animation in general.
