Vann was hidden behind a few trees and bushes. All he could think about was what Ayros said. "If I'm not back within five minutes of them killing that thing, just tell Antonio that I told you to go, alright?" That line just played in Vahn's head over and over like a broken record. "....dammit...." Vahn took a look at his wristwatch. "Five minutes....guess it's time...."
Vahn got up from behind the greenery to go to Ayros' car...until he swore he smelled Lara somewhere close by.....

(The monster got killed a lot faster than I had anticipated, @Axel...just saying.)

*BANG* *BANG* *BANG*

Ayros ran through the battlefield, dodging between pillars as bullet holes ripped through them. He was searching left and right for who he was looking for. He knew that the man he needed would be at the front of the action. Finally, he saw him, and he was being stared down by a sniper. So he ran in and tackled the man he had been searching for since he got here.

"Hey, little bro," Ayros said, a sniper bullet ripping into the wall above them.

Lara pounced on Vahn, and punched him. "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!?! YOU EFFING COWARD, YOURE LEAVING?!!?!"

Vahn could feel the anger radiate off of Lara as she jumped on him. "Two things. One, he told me to leave after five minutes. Second, if you're calling me a coward...why did you leave him?" Vahn stood up, but Lara had grabbed him by the collar. "If the told both of us to stay behind, don't you think you should have a little more faith in him!?"

"I....I..." All the fight Lara had seemed to drain from her. She let go of Vahn, and fell to her knees, her head down to the ground, face filled with despair

Vahn immediately felt like a douche for how he was acting. He had knelt down and rested his hand on her head. "Listen. I know you're worried, it's kinda obvious to tell by how weird you act around him, but you need....we need to have hope. This is Ayros were talking about. He'll be okay on his own. Vahn helped Lara to her feet.

Lara gave Vahn a weak smile. "He better...or else I'll find his sorry <censored> and kill him." deep down though, she didn't like to think of Ayro's chances...ignoring these thoughts, she walked over to the car with Vahn

Vahn had got in the car and started the ignition. Vahn had looked over at Lara and saw her tearing up. "Listen, it's gonna be ok. Alright?"

Antonio watched the two bickering from a distance, wondering what was so important that Ayros would have gone into that warzone. Unless...

"Go. I'll make sure he gets out safe," he yelled to the two people getting into the car.

"Hey, Ayros." Ryen said. "Fancy seeing you here."
"Not an ideal family reunion but it gets the job done, right?"
"I suppose so. Why are you here?"
"Does there have to be a reason?"
"I know you've been hunting me."
Ayros sighed and told him. "I want-" he choked back a sob. "I needed to apologize. I shouldn't have left you, and I sure as Hell shouldn't have kept this from you..." Ayros took a small, heart-shaped object out of his pocket and gave it to Ryen.
"Ayros..." Ryen choked out, looking at the now-open locket. He buried his head in Ayros's chest, as they were both wracked with sobs.
Ayros closed Ryen's hand around the picture of them with their true, birth given parents and said, "It's yours. It's always been yours. Take it." Ayros whispered. "I never should have kept it from you."
"You can come back to the gang."
"No I can't."
"A girl?"
Ayros laughed and wiped his eyes. "God, you still know me so well." He stood up and patted his brother on the shoulder. "I need to go. I need to get back to her."
"Ayros?" Ryen asked.
"Yeah?" he asked, turning as he reached the exit.
"I love you, man."
Ayros's mouth slowly became a smile. "I love you too, little bro. Stay safe."

And like that, he dissapeared.

And then Lara ruined all tension and emotion this scene might have had by finding a drunken, unconscious Zane in the driver's seat, and smacked him upside the head. "WAKE UP @Genos !"

(Also, I forget, is the actual monster dead yet, or have we just been around outside with it still roaming the place?)

Vahn just looked at Lara with a blank stare. "Wow, way to break the forth wall, Lara"

(Nah, tails pointed out the monster somehow died a few posts ago)

"Yea, meant to do that earlier when Rath never appeared, buuuuuuuut ya know." Getting back into character, Lara looked back at the base. And to think, this was supposed to be a simple guard duty job...

Getting back into character, and ignoring the fact that the main cast is only 3 people, Vahn pulled out of the driveway of the building and started driving down the mountain.

Ayros sprinted through the corridor, his head down, bullets whizzing around him. He made it out the door before he stopped his mad dash. Then suddenly, he was tackled, and he heard a sniper bullet hit someone above him.

"Antonio?" Ayros asked. "ANTONIO?"
Antonio rolled to one side and, looking at Ayros, he said, "Is she safe?"
Ayros thought he was out of tears, but a waterfall came pouring out at the question. "Of course," he lied.
"Good..." Antonio said, his voice a raspy whisper. "Goodbye, Ayros."
"No, no no...NO!!!" Ayros screamed, as he lost Antonio's heartbeat. He shook violently with each sob racking his body heavily.

This wasn't the time or place, though, he knew. He sprinted to his car, but not after blasting a few rounds into the head of the sniper. He wiped his tears away and raced after the rest of his friends.

Lara hadn't stopped looking at the base, so when she saw Ayros running towards them, she reached out and grabbed his hand before Vahn stepped on the gas

Ayros jumped into the backseat. "Thanks for waiting," he said. "Let's go..." he said, softer than he'd said anything before.

Lara glanced at Ayros. She still wasn't sure how she felt about him. 'I suppose I have time to figure this out though' she thought. But as they drove through the mountains, she realized even that wasn't certain. She was about to do something rash, like grab his hand or even kiss him, when Vahn interrupted her thoughts. "Huh?! Oh yea..sure." She said, sounding startled. As she took the wheel, she was once again lost in thought...
