"Race?" Ayros asked Antonio.

Antonio simply nodded and said "Race."

Both drivers drove down the gas pedal as hard as they could and started tearing down the road, going exponentially faster than they were supposed to. Ayros laughed as his knuckles were bare-white on the wheel, trying his best to keep control. "You alright, Lara?" Ayros asked. Without waiting for a response, he said, "Because it only gets worse," as he drifted hard to the right, cutting dangerously in front of Antonio as he did so.

Lara nearly got flung out the window and off a mountain, but before she could curse Ayros out for that, the monster picked up a car and smashed it into a nearby car. "HEAD TO THE BASE, IF ANYONE AS THE FIREPOWER TO TAKE THAT THING ON, ITD BE BASE IN SECTOR A!!" She screamed, as she held on to the car with one hand and foot, and shot with the sniper with her other hand

Vahn ended up getting hit in the face with half of a car door from the car debris. "OW! Dammit!" Vahn said as he was holding his nose, as the thought it had broke.

"Alright, love," Ayros said to Lara, softly enough that Antonio couldn't hear it. Then he yelled, "You got that, Antonio?" Antonio nodded and pulled ahead of him. Ayros laughed and, in a few moments, had made another sharp drift. It went on like this for a while, up until the two cars screeched to a halt in front of the Sector A base.

"I'd say I won," Ayros tried to say, but he was cut off by the sounds of gunshots echoing from inside the base. Antonio cursed and pointed to something that Ayros had seen one too many times.

Spray-painted on the bottom of an overturned car was the sign of the Wolves, one of the most notorious gangs in New America.

Lara saw the flipped over car. "Umm...what's that?" Then they heard the monster scream, and Lara decided she didnt care. Instead, she ran up to the front gate and started pounding on it. "Hey assholes, GET OUT HERE WITH YOUR BIGGEST GUNS AND START SHOOTING THE EFFING THING!!"

Ayros ran over and pulled Lara away from the gate. "You definately don't wanna do that," he said. "What we need to do is sneak in there and hide, not just from the monster but from anyone inside, too. And that's going to be tough with you banging on the gate. Alright?" he asked, his heart pounding, wondering if anyone had heard her already.

Vahn quickly got out of Antonio's car, between the smell of drugs and Vahn's nose injury he could hardly breathe. "Okay, so what's our plan!?"

"All we're going to do is get in, find a place where no one will notice us, and when this all blows over, get out. Don't draw attention to yourselves, don't kill unless you need to, and if you do, definately don't use your guns." Ayros said, searching for where the Wolves had gotten in.

Suddenly, he and Antonio had the same thought. They looked at each other, then at Lara, that at each other again. "Lara, stay behind Vahn and Antonio." Ayros said. "And make sure you keep your hood up and your arms crossed."

Vahn walked over by Ayros to talk to him in private. "Hey, what are you planning to do?" Vahn said.

Ayros looked over at Vahn and said, "Just get yourself somewhere safe, alright?" He thought about it for a second, and followed up with, "If I'm not back within five minutes of them killing that thing, just tell Antonio that I told you to go. Alright?" Ayros asked, sneaking the keys to his car into Vahn's hand.

Vahn looked at Ayros with extreme worry, but he knew that Ayros had a plan for just about anything. He knew he could handle this. "....alright. Just...don't do anything stupid and get yourself killed alright?"

"I'll try," he said with a smirk, and he dissapeared through a hole in the fence that he had found.

Vann slowly put the keys in his pocket, while watching Ayros and Lara disappear into the shady beyond the fence. Out of nowhere, Vahn started chuckling. "Hehehe...hehe...that idiot." Vahn pulled out his pocket what he got from that monsters corpse...it was a pocket and a necklace. He opened the locket to find a smudged picture of a couple. Vahn was almost certain the couple were Ayros and his old girlfriend. Ayros had spoken to Vahn about her on the bus ride to Coldstream Correctional. "Stay alive, dude......so I can give this to you...."

Lara followed Ayro's plan begrudgingly, and they entered the compound. "So tell me what the hell is going on, else I start stomping your neck in."

"We're in the crossfire of a war," Ayros said as softly as he could.

"And if you two don't keep your voices down, we'll all be shot on sight, so my advice is that you shut your traps for a second," Antonio replied.

Ayros hoped that that would be enough to keep Lara from noticing that he had left (although he knew it wouldn't), and he stopped and took off in the other direction, towards the action, where he knew that he'd find what he was looking for.

Lara grabbed Ayros by the collar and yanked him back so he fell over. "You aren't getting away that easily."

"Lara," Ayros whispered. He looked at her, his eyes glistening. "I need to go."

It was his tone. He sounded....different, almost frightened. And it scared the <censored> out of Lara. Maybe it was the shock, or maybe it was because she could tell it was important, but she let go of his collar

"Thank you," he whispered, kissing Lara on the cheek. "I'll be back soon, promise," he stated, sprinting off towards the gunfight.

Lara hated to be kissed...but she didn't seem to mind so much now...not that she'd ever admit that. "Dammit Ayros" she whispered, before heading back to find Vahn
