If you're mentioning the part about the controversy with religion I think its because the people who made BoI were indie and Nintendo weren't too friendly with them before. Why I don't think it is because of religion is because again SMT, it has sooooo many religious symbols and demons too, I think there was even a jesus demon, but Atlus was funded company. But now Nintendo is less restrictive against indies so times are changing.

- Well, Agony (this Jesus Christ demon) isn't on SMTIV.
Only on:
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Shiki Clan (You still had a point)
Shin Megami Tensei Trading Card: Card Summoner: Shiki Clan

With the time, we will see if Nintendo will change or not. :p

only bad to the people without nintendo consoles:p
Hah! Atlus started on Nintendo consoles (Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei) and they only moved everything to PS2 for the PS2 era and a little PSP/Vita and PS1 for Persona.

I don't know about "Agony" but there is a representation of Jesus in Persona 3 and (without a doubt) several other titles. They probably had him on Nintendo systems when SMT/MegaTen was on SNES, etc.

You are talking about the ultimate persona of Persona 3, Messiah?

I'm a bit confused to see what your point is, I was talking who it would effect if Nintendo or Sony acquired atlus.

The first Megami Tensei game was on a Nintendo console, (but that game was made by Namco Bandai).

But, anyways, he doesn't have a point, let's take Final Fantasy example :D

The point is that many people (not here in particular) are saying that MegaTen has always been a PlayStation series because its US launch was Revelations: Persona for the PS1 and some subsequent games were PS2/PSP and there was a Vita remake.

Really? I never knew some people thought of it that way, I thought most just thought it was a free for all, no exclusivity.

Lately, it's been kinda non-exclusive, but there's seemingly an ongoing transition back to Nintendo consoles.

For the main series, yeah, but I haven't seen a Persona on a Nintendo console since the SNES.

Persona started on the PS1. MegaTen started in 1989, so it's NES. SMT started on SNES. Then you have others but generally, Atlus has stuck to exclusivity for games, with the exception of Persona 4 Arena, which was only on 360 because arcades (which are big in Japan) run DirectX.

Well, at least the main saga :p

Persona is technically supposed to be a MegaTen (not SMT) spin. It's not well-known. I personally think they've integrated the canons somehow and thus SMT is prefixed to Persona.
