Moon/Sun Pokemon Sun and Moon Announced (Discussion Thread)

Since in the trailer it says "it'll all come together" or something along those lines after showing the previous games...
I'm thinking (and hoping!) that it's more of a sequel instead of just x and y with different Pokemon and gyms.

Also I REALLY Hope they remake sinnoh this gen. It has been nearly 10 years since its release and those were my first games (late to the franchise but I love it still) so much nostalgia

So hyped :D

We'll get a woodpecker bird I think :D

The announcement trailer was really nostalgic and considering Pokemon is 20 years old now and was a part of many people's childhood, I can't be the only one feeling measurably older all of the sudden, right?

Anyways, since the mansion design looks very similar to the Raffles hotel, many people have speculated that Sun and Moon could be based around Singapore which puts it awfully close to Japan, which means Sun and Moon could potentially be referring to the Japanese gods, Amaterasu (Sun goddess) and Tsukiyomi (Moon god), but at the end of the day, it's just speculation and we'll have to wait for more information.

So guys, Mega Solorock and Mega Lunatone confirmed? I can't wait for them to show us some more gameplay or atleast some pictures of ingame! So exciteedd.

Man, I was SO HYPED when they announced it! I also hope it's compatible with XY/ORAS online play, but... I, don't see it happening tbh, but it is compatible with Pokémon Bank, so maybe. I'm excited for more megas, Pokémon, and how the competitive scene will go.

Also, XY was too easy, make it harder!

That's a whole lot of cars! We haven't see so many cars in Pokémon yet, let alone all those different ones. I really REALLYhope they bring back character customisation. I know they didn't want to since they thought it belonged to X and Y but I really liked having a personally styled trainer. The Mansion looks so pretty! *-*

I also had a theory of my own (and I'm referring to the fact that you can transfer pokemon from the Gen 1 VC Games) What if there was some kind of connection to the Sun and Moon games and the Kanto Region? Also what if Sun and Moon held some kind of answer behind the Mystery of Missingno?

I don't think missingno will ever have a story since it was just a glitch.

@RemRem I agree with a lot of the things here, but not all. First off, with different gym types, there isn't really anything else you can do. There's only so many types of pokemon (18 types to be specific), and they have to have at least 8 different types of gyms. So in terms of unique gyms, it wouldn't be with different kinds of Pokemon gyms, the only way to make them unique is to make the gym's design unique. Also, I don't think they will add another Poke-ball. They have everything covered, what else is there to add? I don't care about pre-evolutions though, I am happy if something has just one evolution, however I do agree that there are to many mega evolutions, so they don't really seem "special" because so many Pokemon have them. Also a champion, as a bad guy would be pretty neat! Actually, they did something similar to this in the original and Firered/Leafgreen, where Giovanna, the last gym leader, was the head of Team Rocket, and Lt. Surge, Sabrinna, and Koga, all worked for team rocket. It would be awesome if they brought this idea back! Actually it would be super awesome if the champion was the head of the bad group, and the elite four were like his top henchmen. That would be awesome! The only problem is the champion were always respected, and seen as great people, throughout the games, but this would be a cool twist! It would also be cool, if the gym leaders tried to stop them, but they can't because they're too weak, and you're the only one that can stop them. That would be awesome! I would love if they did that for a new pokemon plot!

Oh yea. In all this hype I forgot that Pokemon Go was supposed to come out soon.
Maybe that's why Nintendo announced it- to buy time

I couldn't be anymore happier about the release of those two games. Does anyone remember back in 2013 Pokemon Sun and Moon got rumored then a while later X/Y got released? I think this game as a anniversary game would be in kanto and or all the other regions along with gen 7's.

Sun and Moon are coming up as we know and unlike other titles this one seems to have a name that may more clearly describe the legendary Pokemon of the generation. That being said there are many things they could pull from various cultures and mythologies as they have with previous legendaries(gen 3 and 6 Norse, gen 4 being Shinto, etc.), as many have involved the sun and the moon. They could pull from Aztec, Mayan, Egyptian, and much more. So what are your ideas for sources of inspiration for the potential Generation 7 (6.5 if you are still arguing that) legendaries?

The legendaries could potentially be based off the Japanese gods Amaterasu (Sun goddess) and Tsukiyomi (Moon god) and if there's a third legendary, it could possibly be based off Susanoo (God of sea and storms, brother of Amaterasu and Tsukiyomi).

What do you THINK Pokemon Sun and Moon is going to be? 7th Gen or 6.5 Generation.

I'd honestly have to say 7th Gen although I wish it was 6.5.
