Counter that threat!!

Have you taken into account that the sun will only be out for 5 turns and that if you do that much with the sun out, I will just heal it right back because Synthesis will heal 75% of my health? Also, there is always the chance it'll miss! It's ironic kinda, Heat Wave CAN miss during sunlight!

  • #242
Would up it to fire blast, but that risks setting the salac berry off and becomes much harder to deal with. Could just switch it out then back in later, though.

Anyway, we have moved on from that to my Jirachi set! Try and counter that!

Nintales does it, but I'll let someone else couter it.

Jirachi @Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
4 Hp/ 252 Atk / 252 Speed
Jolly Nature
-Iron Head
-Fire Punch
-Ice Punch
-Zen Headbutt

PS: Thanks!:)

625.gif

Bisharp @ Blackglasses
Ability: Inner Focus
252 Atk / 44 Def / 212 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
- Pursuit
Knock Off + Sucker Punch OHKO 100% of the time, even if a burn happens. The 44 Defense EVs ensure that Bisharp can live a crit + burn Fire Punch. Inner Focus to avoid flinching to death :p

EDIT: Oh, I forgot a switch in situation... I need some sleep lol. In this case then it's a check, not a counter, unless Jirachi goes for a move other than Fire Punch on the switch in. Bisharp is able to survive but Sucker Punch is a roll on the next turn (87,5% chance to OHKO), and there's still the possibility of Fire Punch burning it.

That's an interesting set! Revenge is a move I almost never see. Well, here's a bizarre one for you:

067.gif

Machoke @ Eviolite
Ability: Guts
252 HP / 252 Sp. Def / 4 Atk
Careful Nature
- Revenge
- Bulk Up
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
Easily counterable, but this Hariyama has very little options to stop it outsode of a crit, Machoke can easily set up to +6 with Bulk Up, Rest keeps it healthy and Sleep Talk lets it set up or throw a Guts boosted Revenge if it's lucky.

EDIT: Ugh... Ninjask'd! D: Counter the Salamence not this

I thought it was an interesting one as well, more like what I'd expect from the Emerald meta.

Ability: Defiant
4 Hp / 252 Atk / 252 Speed
Adamant Nature

-Aerial Ace
-Crush Claw
-Tailwind

As for the Machoke, that's easy! I got 2!
Weavile @ Focus Sash (lol, it tags a user!)
Ability: Pickpocket
4 Hp / 252 Atk / 252 Speed

-Knock Off
-Ice Shard

and / or
Wobbuffet @Custap Berry

With proper timing this one handles all three... trying to turn this into a game, HUH?!?!?!

That set actually isn't a clean counter to Bro while relying on Wish alone, however, it's completely appropriate if running Moonlight, so why don't we assume so and continue on?

252 Atk Adaptability Mega Lucario Bullet Punch vs. 100 HP / 0 Def Clefable: 248-292 (69.6 - 82%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 SpA Clefable Moonblast vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Lucario: 169-199 (59.9 - 70.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

It loses because of priority.

That is not a counter, since it can't OHKO Clef, while Clef kills Luke if it tries to switch in... Do i need to explain what is a counter EVERYTIME!!?

(Also, don't run Protect on singles Lucario)

Thats not the point of a counter

A counter can switch in even in the worst case scenario (without hax), and still beat 1v1.

If it needs to switch in an specific move and/or needs to be on a certain situation (like having the field clean of Stealth rocks) then is not a counter, is a check at best (and no one should ever use Counter on Weavile, is a one time use move and low kick is better)

You really haven't thought about how it works in Ubers where I use it! It 1-Hit KOs many annoying Pokemon like Ho-oh, all physical megas besides Kangaskhan and so on! Sure, it may be a single use move and with conditions, but if you already have the fighting coverage taken care of, then you can just use this to get rid of annoying things!

First, you never mentioned ubers

Second, Low Kick is still better in that scenario (remember, you are trying to counter THAT set, not the entire metagame)

Third, Low Kick is still better in Ubers, most Pokémon are really heavy, and Low kick will ussualy OHKO anyways, without the risk of needing the Focus Sash intact, or needing to take a physical hit, or being a one-time only move

Four... I thought you didn't play Smogon tiers... I'm confused >_<

Five, not many Pokémon can use Counter effectively, the best examples are Chansey, Blissey and Wobbuffet (and Magic Guard Alakazam, once its legit)

Sixth, is still not a counter
